I've read numerous posts concerning possible smoke venting issues during a power outage.
We lost power at 2am Sunday while the wife and I slept. I woke up to a chilly house but the
venting seems to have worked flawlessly-just a few black pellets in the burn pot.
I'm grateful to everyone here for emphasizing proper installs.--Jerry.

I also lost power and no smoke in the house. Always wondered if I would have a problem with a power loss. Have an OAK, wonder if I would have had smoke in the house without it.

I had issues last year with smoke coming in, but this first power outage this year i didnt get any smoke. Not sure if its because i only had the stove running for only an hour or so before it went out or what

Yep, proper draft using vertical pipe is the way to go. I lost power Sat. night around 7 PM, and never smelled any smoke....everything went up the pipe before the generator kicked in a minute later.

I don't have an OAK and no smoke when pull the plug. I do have 25 ft. of vertical rise though:)

I hear ya. If I lose power that 33 foot pipe better be pulling some smoke out of that stove.

1. I don't have an OAK.

2. When the power goes out, I do get a few puffs of smoke in the house.(Wife gets worried, I like the smell  )

3. I have roughly 2 feet of inside horizontal pipe, followed by 4 feet of outside vertical. (Dealer installed)

Question: Can I reduce/eliminate the puffs of smoke by extending my vertical pipe by a few feet?

No problems with exhaust otherwise, just the loss of power.

Thanks in advance.
