:-S This is my first year with a gasifier. Love it. But I am seeing all the wood stoves in the Wood Shed. And seeing their fires. Am missing watching my fire through the glass door of my Pacific Energy Super 27. Wish my Wood Gun had a glass door. Even just a small viewing window so you could see the fire burning and get that feeling you get when you are watching a fire. :long: Would be handy as hell to have a viewing window, even if a small one, so you wouldn't have to open the door to make sure everything is burning well. And get me my fix. I'll be okay.

I had just the opposite, our old woodfurnace didn't have any glass. The new one has a large glass door which puts out a nice light show. I don't have to open the door to view the fire, plus the radiant heat from viewing is impressive. After owning our furnace, I would never choose one without glass and never consider one without a EPA or B415 certification again. My avatar is from the view of our furnace I made.

Thank you for the sympathy my friend. I really do appreciate ... Hey, wait a minute. Oh, thanks a lot. I wanted a Gassification boiler for the efficiency. I heat my entire house, garage and Domestic Hot Water. I have it now, and love it. Just have to live without seeing the fire. I have a bon fire pit in the back yard. Good sometimes. But when the nasty weather hits. Well, I still have my Pacifice Energy Super 27 though. Hmmm. :) I have a back porch.

Hey bro, I cant even say that much!

Mine is still on the shipping pallet in the middle of the garage.

I am making some progress, got walls and ceiling insulated, rocked and spackled.
Just finished the concrete platform for the unit.
Will probably move the WG into place thursday or friday.
Hook up flue on saturday, run 4 pex lines(about a 60 foot run) from WG to OB on sunday.
Wait for boiler friend to come, Hopefully next week.

Hope to be up and running by next Saturday.

Cant you use you super 27 anymore or did you take it out of your basement? How much more effient is your gassifier than your stove?

Gassification boiler now uses the chimney I used for the Super 27 for five years. So I can't use both at the same time. 27 is still in the basement. Gassifier is, well let's just say probably between 86-88 % efficient. Hard to really say. Don't want to start that conversation again. ;-) But the Wood Gun is dam efficient. The P.E. Super 27 was rated somewhere around 78% efficient, if I remember right. So, gassifier is quite a bit more efficient. Plus, the Super 27 could heat about 60-70 % of my house. The Gassifier can heat my entire house, garage, and my hot water for showers, dishes, and everything else you use hot water for. Very sweet. Especially when I get most of my wood for free.

Cmon Mike. Get a boiler guy over there already! Even if you have to entice your buddy with extra beer or something. Put some kind of pressure on him that a man has a hard time refusing. Tickets to the game. Did I mention beer? Something. Good luck my friend. Luckily, the weather hasn't been to cold for you.

I'm at just about the same point as you. Going to paint the boiler room today. Just need to figure out how to get the boiler off the pallet...

Do you have a thermometer to see the stack temps? Until I put one in I too was opening the door to see how it's burning. Now that I can see the stack temps I know based on either the rise in temp or what temp it has setteled at during a burn just how things are going without interupting the burn cycle. This will make an efficient burn even more so.

No, I don't. Okay, I'll admit it. (I feel like I should be at an AA meeting.) I don't have to open the door. All I have to do is look at the temperature of the boiler and tank and I know if things are burning okay or not. I just open the door to get my flame viewing fix. It is an efficient fix. :red:

It just isn't the same Barkeatr.

Gassifier did u recieve a PM from me. :)

 No, and I don't think I want to now! Good luck on finishing the install man. If I were closer I would give you a hand. Oh, wait a minute. That would probably make things worse for you. That is why I hired my install done. I am good at felling and cutting wood though. I have brought in about 3 face cord on a very part time basis the last two days. Not split yet though, unfortunately. Why is that I can only seem to find an hour or two to go get wood? 1] Parents 2] Wife 3] Kids and 4] Other relatives (I have six brothers and two sisters, and umpteen neices and nephews). :) Good times.

My unit was just under 8' away from the concrete platform I made. The unit was on 2 pallets, why I have no idea. It was 12" off the floor. Which turned out to be a good thing.
The concrete platform is 13 1/2" high. I built a bridge with some scrap from a job to connect them. Because I originally was going to put the unit one way and then changed my mind I had to spin it 180*.
I must pat myself on the back ;-) By myself with a 5' crow bar I spun it around lifted it enough for a 1" pipe and simply pushed it into place :cheese:
Felt like an Egyptian
