Hey guys, need some opinions. Background is, I'm trying to find a deal on a decent insert for the living room. Have a 1800 sf ranch nuff said. I got two inserts Im looking at a century heating cw2500 for 375$ with NO FAN ASSEMBLY but includes 11ft of flex, or Quadra Fire 2100 thats been sitting in a garage for 7 years for 350$. Both seem like pretty good deals..

From other posts here, the fan sure is nice to help move the heat around.
Don't know much about either though. Some one should chime in with some good input.

Agree totally about the fan. I replaced a zero-clearance unit that had no fan with a unit that has a fan, and the difference -- going from limited radiant heat only to radiant plus convective -- is huge. Heat moves around the house better, and there's more of it. A fanless insert is probably a unit you'll be disappointed with.

I have a Lopi insert with a blower. As far as I'm concerned an insert without a fan is almost worthless. The insert does pretty good heating with the blower running if you don't mind hearing the noisey fan running all day. If the electric goes out, no fan and very limited radiant heat. If you want heat get a free standing stove! As soon as I have enough funds I'll be switching over to a free standing stove!!!

I had a 2100 insert in my last place. We loved it. You can load front to back with 16" pieces. We didn't have a blower, but we should have. Would have gotten another one for the current place, but Quad discontinued the model.

Is that a freshly stacked 3 cord?

And +1 on the blower.....big time.

Nope, cut down 2 standing dead oaks and one ash, big ones too! Split the wood 50/50 with a buddy for helping. All been dead a while beautiful wood. Got another standing dead oak I'm going to get after deer season. that century heat I believe is supposed to have a fan assembly, I'm trying to find one to buy. If I cant find the assembly ya'll are right I wont want it. Fan is a must have. Read a long thread on hear from a guy who had problems with super short burn times with his quadrafire 2100. Anyone know when they started making the 2100? and/or when they D/Ced them?

just heard from a dealer I contacted about that fan assembly: "I do not have a restocking date for this part. The request as been forwarded to our distributer and I'm waiting for a delivery date from them. I'll send you any new information regarding your resquest as soon as I received something." Not a good sign..

Just a heads up, standing dead doesn't always mean it's dry and burnable.

The Quad sticks out some, (not flush like the 2700), so you can get by w/o a blower plus load north/south.

I hear ya. Thing is he's selling insert, faceplate and flex pipe for 375, add the 250 for fan gives ya 625. New is more like 750 for unit 100 face 200 pipe + 150 ship. =1200. 1/2 price is worth a look.. No Quadra lovers or haters?

Yeah? thats one vote quadra then! He says the quad has blower with remote. ever here of that? heres the listing..

I told you, we loved that 2100i. Here's the only picture I could find of it. Sorry about the blurriness.

Remote might just be a speed control on the cord.

The CW2500 comes standard with the fan Assy. So it looks as if they lost it. Part #SE63133 http://www.century-heating.com/replacement-parts.aspx?Search=1

You can get the part here...http://myfireplaceproducts.com/Catalog.aspx about $225

Are the 2100 an epa stove? they have 6in flue right?
Myfireplaceproducts are the ones with the unkown restock time..

They are a company that specializes in heating parts. If they say they have stock, they have stock.

Yes. It has the secondary tubes. The baffle is steel, about 30 lbs, whereas the new ones are made of refractory stuff.

x2!

You sure you have 3 full cords? Sorry I see you're from Michigan I have to ask! People in this state don't know what a cord of wood is. :)

I'd go for the quadrafire if it's still there! (listing is gone)

bought an insert today, tag indicates its either a regency r14 or 16. Any quick way to tell which it is? Tag on back is gone..

Yep, 4x4x8 right? thats what grampa called a cord..

Yep! You're one of the few in our fine state!

Post some pictures if you can, I'm sure the fine folks here can ID it for you.

Figured it out. Its got a tag on the front you can see when you take the fan assembly off Says "regency medium (r14) (16)" with a punch indicating 16. So guess im a proud owner of a '91' regency 16. My first insert! needs a coat of paint and a good cleaning (sat in ole' boys garage for a couple years) and Im good to go! And yes michiganders struggle with the difference between a face cord and a cord.. just smile and nod, seem to be doing that a lot these days..
