I recently bought a house with a wood burning fireplace. The insert has a spot for a blower under the firebox, including the wiring, but there is no fan there. I'd like to install one but I couldn't find any manufacturers information. It does have this logo on it:

Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Is this a pre EPA stove? Don't be shy, provide the whole picture.

The manufacturer info is usually on a plate on the back of the insert.
Hard to tell without a full photo of the entire beast.

The house was built in '86 and I believe the fireplace to be original to the house. I love it like it is, but but I would love it even more if it could push more heat.

Looks like an older ZC box. That's about as good as having a campfire
in your living room. Not a heater, but more for ambiance...
To get more heat, you have a couple of options...
Tear it out from the rear & replace it with an EPA Rated ZC box, or
find an EPA rated wood burning insert that is approved for insertion into
a ZC box that will fit this one & run an insulated liner to the cap, or
set a free-stander on the hearth - with an extended hearth pad - in front
of that unit & run an insulated liner to the cap...

Thats what i did, I took it out. All it did was burn wood.

then I put this in.

Although it would be wicked cool to put something more modern there, I'm not really looking for a major home improvement project right now. Neither time nor budget for it at the moment. I also don't need it to heat the house, natural gas is cheap here in CO.

Just looking to "kick it up a notch" know what I mean?

Should I just take some measurements of the mounting brackets and find a blower that fits? Anything else I would need to take into consideration?

This is not an insert. It's a pre-fab fireplace. It might be possible to install a small wood insert in this fireplace with a stainless liner. If possible, the estimated cost would be about $2100-3000.

I was under the impression that an insert was a metal fireplace set into a brick hearth. Regardless of the terminology, the question remains the same...

Unless it's a covection box, a blower won't do squat.
A radiant box has nowhere for the air to pass around
the firebox to pick up any heat.
The model number - IF you can still
find and read the rating plate, will identify it.
It should either have a "C" in the model or an "R".
C = convection
R = radiant
You can't even GET a blower for a radiant box...

It has the ducting that goes from below to behind and above the firebox to pull air from the room, heat it, then blow it back out. It also has the fresh air intake from outside for combustion. It has the 110v outlet behind the bottom cover that is live and switched by a switch on the wall. It's made to have a blower in it, I'm just trying to figure out what blower to put in it.

I've had both the bottom and top cover off and haven't found a mfgr's plate. It's probably on the back like someone else said. It's just not worth it to me to tear apart or even punch a hole in the chimney to see if it's there.

I guess my best bet is to take some measurements and buy a blower that will fit in the space and then tweak it to fit if needed?
