We've been out since last Saturday night here and they are forecasting us to be on next Sunday! Sure hope it will be sooner. Turns out Connecticut Light and Power didn't pay the crews that helped out after Irene this summer and help was slow in coming. We were out 3 days before we saw the first crews around here! Quad is keeping us warm fairly warm, but without the blower an insert is only a shadow of itself! Our neighbors without stove have all long gone to hotels and friends and family's houses.

Yeah.... 94...

I was in Korea, she was home alone.. luckily we lived in town, close to lots of friends.. never lost power, but roads were snowed under for 5 days, store shelves empty.. they had 20 inches and it stayed for a while, but no ice and power the whole time. We had two Mustangs and a very steep drive at the time. So she was a walkin' in the snow for the whole time. We have not been without 4/all wheel drive since. And the ability to keep the house warm, cook, etc in case of power outages..

This when one of those tiny little Honda 1000i's would be worth having...

Toonjie, was it somewhere in your area where someone lost thier Lake home to fire because the firetrucks couldn't get there.....over an hour respnse time due to roads blocked by trees.....been a tough week for some

We lost power for a few days in southern CT,not a big deal really this time of year, but we did chill down to upper 20's at night.
No well,no furnace,no hot water, but did get the fireview up and running for some 24/7 burning and kept the house nice and toasty, made me feel good about my
Woodstock purchase.

It was a good test to see how much of my house the fireview would heat, realizing this is not the dead of winter, but am pleased with the heat distribution, and how comfy we were.Neighbors with fireplaces were complaining how cold they were.

Overall very happy with my stove and tons of thanks to all of you out there posting away the info is invaluable for a newb just learning how to run a stove.I think now
that I have burned a little and find my wood less than primo, the most important lesson is get ahead on the wood, rest assured am busy doing that.

Thanks again to all for all your help and info, and for those in CT still without power hope it is soon for you to get back on line, happy and safe burning to all.

Scott

Scott, you no doubt now understand why my wife uses the Fireview for much of the cooking during the winter months. If the power goes out here, we don't get too concerned even if the temperature outside is zero. We'll eat hot meals for sure and have hot water too.

Guess I have been too busy gathering, splitting wood and back to work, interesting reading everyones posts.

We were lucky power back late Tuesday and all is back to normal.Hope it is not a harbinger for the winter.Hope the ones still without get power back soon.

Safe burning to all.
Scott
