Just cleaned the insert when I pulled the left side cast iron plate witch covers the heat exchanger.Down on the left corner of the stove their is a small hole that you send a brush threw.Their was some water ?? Is this normal where did it come from
Can some help !!

Do you have an oak installed? If so then it's probably from condensation building up on the oak pipe, then dripping down to where you are seeing it. I get a few drips this time of year with my stove. When the humidity drops inside the house in the Winter not nearly as much condensation will build up.

NO I don't have a OAK installed, not sure what to think??

Hmmmm...Is there any way precipitation could be getting down the chimney, liner, etc?

when you push the brush in the left side there is a 90 degree turn then should push all the way to the handle. If you look in the right side with a flashlight you will see the brush head. When this channel gets clogged moisture from the pellets collects in the ash and is very hard to clean. We use a piece of plumbers snake 1/4" cut it down to about 6"-12" longer than the brush length and put it on a hand held drill and power through it. once it's open run it for a day to dry it out then clean again.

WOW THANKS!!

:cheese:

Has this happen to you be for? and how did you find out were you getting a bad burn?

I work for the largest pellet stove retailer in the country as a service tech and stop on in from time to time to give advice. Alot of times you will feel alot less heat on the left side and when it completely plugs up the flame pulls to the right. Also when you clean the stove the right side will be black and left side brown in ash color.

Tried what you said to do with the 1/4 plumber sank.I did get threw, I still cant get the brush to show up on the right side,I did get a lot of build up out. Is the heat exchanger tubes all the same size from left to right? It feels like I am hitting something metal ? I will run the stove tonight and clean the tubes again. :bug:

What i do on these is run my 1 1/4 in shop vac hose in the left side w/out the plastic end on it. I work the brush and the hose un til i get the end of the hose in view on the right

Does this apply to the xxv as well. No issues with mine, but I'm curious.

No, different exhaust configuration.

OK that sounds good to,I bet people that have this insert do even know they have an issue!!
Thanks a lot.

I have the same unit and the same symptoms. I'll be picking up some 1/4" plumbers snake tommorrow morning. Can't beat the knowledge on this site :cheese:

I hear that,Let me know how you make out? good luck

Put a small right hand bend in the brush and it will help make the right hand turn. It will go in to the ring on the brush. HTHs
