Finished up the install on the F500 yesterday. It looks great on the slate hearth that I layed! I started the break in process too. Yesterday afternoon I started a small fire in it with newspaper and kindling. I forgot to get a thermometer and didn't wanna drive 20 miles into home depot to get one, so I kept it small. I let it cool and started a second fire with some lumber that I split up. I let that fire get a little bigger and added an oak knot that I had laying around. It burned for about 45 to an hour. The stove felt like it was around 300 degrees. Tomorrow I am gonna get a thermometer and do the final 400 degree break in. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Great! Will be interested to see how your first season goes. Pics would be great.

I wish I was able for feel for temps!!!

Good going. Of course with the thermometer, the camera will come out and we'll see this beauty in person, right? (foot going tap tap tap)
