Hi everyone,
Seeing if anyone out there has a quadrafire 1200 and if they experiencing a low flame? My flame barely makes it out of the pot. I have seen other pellet stove videos online and there flame is pretty much touching the heat exchanger. Any ideas..? Maybe the pellets I am using?

Thanks,
Vinny

The flame should be adjusted on High and it should be about 4" above the burn pot edge.

Now this all depwnds on where your feed plate/slide is in the hopper? And the biggest one, is Pellets? What pellets are you burning?

With Penningtons, I can barely get the flame to the bottom 1" of the pot (On High/Feed wide open)

You adjust it on High, then when you set it on Med, or Low, it will naturally be lower in hieght. I run my stove on Low all the time, whether its the shoudler season and I am using the T-stat or Super Cold out and runnjng the stove 24/7. I like it to idle along. Does a great job heating my 2,200 sq ft, without any other assistance.

So set it on high? Open feed plate? Back down in steps (every 15 min make a small adjustment)? And if you cant get it that high, its the pellets. (How old is the stove, I am to lazy to go back and look to see if you had the brand new stove, that had a bad snap disc)

Yes thats me with the new stove. So, your saying to open the slider in the hopper wide open and both switches on high and I should be getting a high flame?

Yes. Full open and on High. Then every 15 min, adjust the slide down till the flamw is 4" above the pot.

This is in the manual. I suggest you read it a few times.

Once its set. The flame will obviously be smaller on a lower heat level. And with some "junk" pellets, you wont be able to achieve the 4" I dont run on High so I adjust the rod based on my heat needs. Using low, I have it mostly open to wide open in the heart of Winter.

Read the manual, all the info is in there. What I wrote above comes from that. What brand of pellets are you burning?

Page 24 upper right hand side of page. Umder "Fire Characteristics".

That would be me with the new one with the bad snap discs. :-D LOL Tech is coming up Wednesday.

Good luck. These are veru good units when they are running. I have yet to have a True Problem. After 3 seasons I changed the door gasket (needed it) and the ignitor (could have got by for a little while) but other than that, I have been lucky (knocking on wood). Out of the stoves I have seen operate (Father, 3 buddies at work, and 2 friends around my house) this stove seems to be the most efficient. Pellets burned and Heat....

Hope you get your problem resolved.. Hope the OP reads the manual. Almost everything you need to know is in there (as far as operating) the cleaning section is highly lacking specific detail..

Cheers

That stinks. It really isn't that hard to do at all. If its still under warranty goto your dealer and he will give you a new one and just swap it that's what I did and works fine now.

I am wondering..... Does the heat range switch, high, med, low change the speed of the augur motor or is it the same speed?

Yes. When you turn the Heat range up, everything steps up. The auger times increase.The convection blower raises in speed and the combustion blower does also.

The times for the auger "On" times are:
Low = 4.7 sec = 2.5 lbs per hr
Med = 6.0 sec = 3.75 lbs per hr
High = 7.5 sec = 5.0 lbs per hr

The higher you turn up the heat setting. The hotter its gonna get. I like a low and slow burn myself. But you will have to find what works best for you.

That's the fuel consumption numbers from the manual but if you adjust the feed with the rod in the hopper you will have different fuel consumption rates. I wonder what the minimum and maximum for low medium and high really are.
