I was just getting ready to purchase 20' of the 6" Magnaflex Insulflex chimney liner for a fireplace install with a standalone woodstove. I called fireplacesnow to order the liner and the customer service fella indicated that this chimney liner can't be installed into a clean out tee. He indicated that the liner needs to connect directly into the stove. If that is indeed true, I need to rethink my installation. I was planning on installing the stove on the hearth and connecting the stove and liner to a clean out tee. I'm not quite sure if I would be able to "snake" the liner through the damper area and connect it to the back of a Hearthstone Heritage stove that is sitting outside the fireplace opening. Any idea's or comments from the guru's would be appreciated.

Figured somebody would have helped by now...oh well, I'll bite. You may want to find another sales associate to order from. You do not directly connect a liner to a stove. An appropriate connector / adapter needs to be utilized. You may want to contact Magnaflex for their recommendation. You can also PM TheHeatElement, for he is the Magnaflex guy that occasionally stops by here. Here's a pic of what you need.

You should have no problem connecting that to a cleanout tee. After all, Magnaflex sells the appliance adapter with the liner. Magnaflex Insuflex is no different than any other liner out there. It simply comes with the insulation and an outer casing pre-installed. The actual SS liner itself is the same as others... yes you can connect to a T cleanout. You just have to trim back the insulation and the outer aluminum casing.
