Western MA.
I burned Greene Team last year and they did well. Got them at my local Lowes. They were the same prices as any other pellet they had. This year they have GT Platinum priced at a premium $5.49/bag and their other brands at $4.49/bag.
Are the Greene Team "platinum" or their "Gold" any different than their regular bag? No info. about any difference on their web site. So sent an email to them.

Greene Team Gold is sold at the pellet dealers and Greene Team white bag is sold at lowes. Same pellet different bag.

I have been told the new Platinum's are also just a new bag design(again Same pellet different bag). Platinums were bagged this season, So If you see the other(no platinum in the tree) its most likely last seasons bagged product.

Yea Robbie at GT said that the platinum is no different than the other bag (no platinum). Lowes are charging more because of the word "platinum" I talked to a few employees and they all said, "they are a step above the regular greene team" One person also said "its less than 5 % ash." I had to laugh at him....

For those wondering as I heard this happening at other Lowes too. After an email to Lowes corp. and then a redirected return email from my local store management, they are saying that the vendor(not clear if they mean the factory or a middleman) raised the price $1.00 per bag this year and is the reason for the GT $5.49/bag vs $4.49/bag for the other brands.

If that's true then the stores around me are making up a story about the Platinums being better than the regular bag.

Yes that was just a story. All GT bags contain the same pellets.
I'm still investigating the rest of the story and will report back if I get more info.
