i have the ef3 my slider seems awful hard to pull out,and when the stove is hot it's even harder. is that normal or is it something to worry about

Do you mean the damper slide or the slide to clean the heat exchanger tubes?I have an EF3 and the damper slide works easy. The exchanger slide can be a little hard to pull sometimes if hasn't been used for a while. You ain't suppose to use it when the stove is hot.

and when it's hot it's almost impossible. over the weekend im going to open the side and see if i can see any in there that is wrong

philbrick,

On my EF-2 the damper will get hard to move if I overtighten the 4 retaining nuts on the back of the combustion chamber.
This is between the combustion chamber and the combustion blower path.
There is a gasket around it as well.

Try loosening the nuts a bit and see if that frees it up.

Keep the nuts a tight as you can as this is a combustion path seal.
