I've been seeing ads for these (Powerhouse Pellets) around for 200-250/ton. Are they any good?

Same as the Great Americans I tested last season. I have a couple bags to try later on.

These pellets are made from whole logs that are chipped and hammer milled. Should be a nice steady supply of them even in lean times.

I thought they were pretty good, decent heat and low ash. They seemed to be doing pretty well with the quality. I have heard a few say they didn't like them, But we are getting in to some lean pellet times. Not a bad option if your favorite brand is MIA. Just in case, I'd be much happier if you tried a few bags. And if you do. Please post a comment on how they did for you.

these are made about 35 minutes from me in PA but I have not purchased any yet.

From what I hear, you cannot buy direct unless you are an employee or direct family of one. I had to email them for a list of dealers. A friend of my friend lives next to the place and said they were selling super cheap QA runs but have since dialed in their recipe.

where do you see them for 200/ton?

These are going in tomorrow. I am finishing up my cheat riever pellets now. I have run temp tests on the red cheap presto logs and cheat river. I am all out so my Powerhouser pellets go in next. Will report back soon.

Seems Powerhouse are rebagged Great American?? The name of the person who gave me the retailers for Powerhouse is the same name as the person for Great American.

The new store in Quakertown for WoodHeat sells them (Great American Pellet). They are closer to 250 from what I remember seeing a couple weeks ago. Also Cozy Barn in WindGap sells them for about the same price. I would jump on them at 200 a ton if you find them....please keep us posted.

I was just talking about these with my dealer this morning as he is now stocking them. He said that he's still testing them and said that they seem like a decent pellet but maybe not as hot as some of the others.

Powerhouse IS the same as the Great Americans. We stock Great Americans for $225/ton picked up, and have tested them side by side with Hammers. We still like the Hammers but they're a good pellet for the cheaper price point. YMMV
