Does anyone use this venting on their stoves? I am planning to rip out my old wood stove and move the pellet stove onto the existing hearth. Thinking about installing the Selkirk 4DT-VPHKB kit and piping. Any pros or cons? Availability? What say you?

I use it and love it.

Availability is not a problem for me, my dealer stocks it.

Only con I can think of is cost.

The only pipe to buy for short to medium length chimney installs. Anything over that I would go ICC, based on others reviews.

Since the fresh air comes down around the exhaust pipe, my fear in long chimney applications (>15' ish) is over cooling the exhaust gasses. That's only my hypothesis based on logic, I have nothing else to prove whether I'm right or wrong.

Another benefit is the fact that any tiny leak from the internal exhaust will be sucked right back through the stove and not into your home!!!

Benefit in shorter installations is the fact that you are using waste heat to preheat your combustion air, thus improving your overall system efficiency. I would guess my combustion air is well over 100 degrees on a 6' install. This I know first hand!!! Flue gasses are barely warm at the outlet.

Dynamitebuys.com is the BEST place to buy it. Cheap prices and the guys there are 1st class. Downside is about 2 week lead time since it ships direct from Selkirk.

I have Selkerk for venting on my harman. It works very well. The outer pipe is just warm to the touch, even with the stove going full tilt. No smoke smell at all. Now my venting is about 2' up and around 5-6' out the wall, and like a previous post stated the exaust is not overly hot.

I used the Selkirk (Metalbest) DT also. Got the up and out kit on Ebay from djsonline. The pipe I got from homeclick.com. Looks real nice, works great, expensive, wasn't real impressed with the 3 to 4" adapter or the seal on the cleanout on the 4" tee.

I got the Selkirk DT based on the stove shop recommendation. I love it so far! Mine is up and out with just the nozzle on the outside. Pipe is cold to the touch on the inside near the wall and slightly warm to the touch near the back of the stove.
