I have a new Thelin 3000 parlour..( about a month old)..tonite it's down in the 20's so I thought I would run the stove on medium...I have always run it on low....anyways the front of the stove is really hot...to hot to touch...and it has a paint smell...like it was when I first used it...wondering if this is ok...or does it need a good hot running...I'm burning MWP mixed pellets. I also took notice that the glass is staying cleaner...then if it was on the low setting. Maybe I still need to break it in...heat is great and the flame is nice..

IMO I think it's not a big deal. My Harman was doing that for the first couple months I had it. Every time there was a new low temperature I would get a little of that burn-in smell. Then I finally decided to crank it up full blast for a couple hours and that took care of it completely. Also my stove gets too hot to touch at high temps, I think you are fine.

My stove gets very hot around the door glass area. My daughter tripped and fell last year against it & it burned her real good. She still has the mark on her hand to prove it. Since then, I think she learned a hard lesson & won't go near it.

The fronts get very hot on all stoves. If you have never had it above low, then every time you raise the firing rate, you will get that smell again. I would put it on High for 30-45 min and "Bake" it.

My woodstove I installed a couple months ago smelled everytime I got it a little hotter. My Quad was Pre burned at dealer for 2 hrs, so it was pretty much good to go. Very little smell.

Sorry to hear about that..I can just imagine..my frontal area is all cast with nickle trim..it would brand you good..I'm new at pellets stoves and did not realize how hot these get...I just can't imagine it on high!!

Will do...thanks for inform...I just worry to much at times!!

Glass is 381 degrees. Top lid 103. Tubes 384. Sides 113. Using a Ryobi laser IR001 thermometer.

I keep one of those magnetic thermometers on the top of my P68 due to exactly the same curiosity.

Even when I'm running it hard, It is rare to see it over 300*F
