OK I almost caught my pants on fire last night. My work pants are a little baggy and kinda puff out around the thigh. While warming myself up next to the stove I thought I smelt smoke so I bent over to get a whiff near the top loading door. As I bent over I saw smoke coming off my pants. I think I'll try to pay more attention next time I want to warm up!

Please don't make an "ASH" out of yourself.........................

Jack, many of us have done the same thing.

I remember hearing about someone doing that back when women wore polyester pants. Only hers didn't light on fire, they just started to shrink really, really fast.

We were sittin' around the campfire one weekend, my buddy sez from acroos the fire "Hey Terri, ya might wanna check your sneakers".....the Wife was sittin' a little to close.....melted the bottom of her sneaks.

FirefighterJake: Hey kids, do you all know what to do if your clothing catches on fire?

Kids: STOP, DROP AND ROLL!!!

FirefighterJake: That's right . . . well that and if your clothes are on fire you also shouldn't put them on in the first place.

:)

There's an easy way to avoid this. Eschew the encumbrance of breeches and liberate your soul. And your junk.

Side note: keep a tight enforcement of your clearance to combustibles. :bug:

Does this include said underpants as well . . . I mean I rarely wear pants in the house . . . but I kindof draw the line at the boxer shorts . . . although I do also often wear just said boxer shorts while going outside . . . I just tell my wife they look like shorts . . . she insists they're not fooling anyone.

denim is awesome for this reason. I really wish denim was back in. I would wear a denim button-up shirt with a denim jacket and a pair of jeans. All stone washed, of course. That would be super-cool AND super-fire-resistant.

lol. Denim still has it's place. You can still wear it in the country (well, jeans are ok everywhere). But it's nothing like the late 80's early 90s where everyone was doing it and it was all stone washed. gag. and thank goodness for boot cut jeans. stupid tapered leg pants with that tight-roll. being a tall skinny guy with big feet and in Junior high at the time, it was the worst ever. good riddance.

Parachute pants were the greatest things ever. especially the ones with zippered pockets all over the place. Had a pair of those with those Roos shoes that had a little pocket in them, too. you could carry 20 dollars in change and never hear a single jingle because you just put a coin in each pocket!

can you imagine catching a pair of hammer pants or parachute pants on fire? The big ol' melted mess of plastic would be horrible...

Let this be a warning to everyone who still wears hammer pants to be careful near your woodstoves.

Nobody told me it was out either. Oh well it will be back.. I was actually in fashion for a few years in the early 90s when the whole grunge thing was big. I was tempted to buy a couple pairs of parachute pants to wear until it blew over. I didn't want to be mistaken for somebody who was being fashionable.

Can't touch this...

If I'm not mistaken the head to toe denim is sometimes refered to as the "Canadian Tuxedo" (at least in these parts) and that NEVER goes out of style.

I wore my share of "hammer pants" back in the late 80's when I worked at the Merry Go Round...along with other questionable attire.... :-S
I had a cool cropped acid washed denim jacket.....I put a huge peace sign on the back of it made of all different sizes of safety pins.... :shut:

For some STRANGE reason, this does not supprise me.

Back to the pants on fire many years ago, I was helping out some guys working on a NASCAR stock at a local track here. In the shop we had a double 55 gallon drum stove set up. That put out a lot of heat, anyway the stove was closest to the drivers door of the racecar, I had some work to do in that area leaning into the car. Start smelling fabric softner and denim! Time to move!
