theres a local place that sells them but ive heard that lennox is a cheaply made product mostly sold wholesale to contractors and builders. anyone have any experiance with a lennox insert?
im also looking at hearthstone but does that soapstone really make any sort of difference? hows the build quality? the clydesdale looks nice although at 2.4sq sq ft i would have liked a larger firebox.
any thoughts

I thought Lennox was a good stove? Never owned one, though. Fact is, most modern EPA stoves are pretty damn solid.

For the insert, you won't notice much of the soap stone qualities like you would with a free standing stove. Still a good stove. But, will it meet your needs?

How big is your home?
Is it an open floor plan?
Is your home drafty?
Are you trying to do whole house heating from this stove?
Will it be the primary heat source for the house?
Do you already own a stove?
If so, what stove is it and did it produce enough heat?
If not, how much wood do you have available and when was it split and stacked?

it probrably would meet my needs although the small firebox is a concern. think im leaning toward a travis product like the avalon olympic. high btu's , fan, like the bypass damper option. 3.1 sq ft firebox. good reputation

Lennox has purchased a few companies to round out it's stove and insert line. The bulk are made by Country, here in Auburn, WA. They are good, heavy duty stoves. Hearthstone inserts are also fine and have a very nice fire view.

I have a Lennox zero-clearance FP which, entering season 2, seems very well-made. They bought Security Fireplaces in Quebec, which had a very good line of ZC products, and I believe my unit was made in the Quebec Security facility.

I have a Country (Lennox) C210. It heats my entire house and has done me well; this being its 3rd season. It is a very simple stove, which I like. The build seems very robust, and I don't forsee any issues with having to replace parts anytime soon.

When I was looking at the showroom, I was not impressed with the weld quality inside the firebox. So much so, that I almost did not buy it based on that. But, being a Tool Designer and former weldor myself (once welded for Travis Industries), I may be a bit of a weld snob. But, after the first fire, you'll never see those welds again and the insert has proven itself so well that I sleep easily with a roaring fire going.

As a side note, I was very impressed with the showroom welds on the Quadrafires I was looking at, but later wised up and figured out that the guy welding for the showroom is usually not the same guy welding the stoves down a production line...... Especially when "incentive pay" is involved.

I have a Lennox Ladera (known as the BIS Nova under the security line) and have been quite happy with it. It was not my first choice but it is all that would fit into a framed cavity from a builders box special that I could not extend or expand. It was installed in late March and so far for the shoulder season I have been very impressed with it. I am heating a solid 1500 sqft with a vaulted ceiling. Feed it good wood and it will perform well.
