Looking for some quick advice. I've got a Lopi brand wood stove...Liberty. The edge where the door lever pinches behind is bent. Looks like someone tapped into it with a car or something real heavy. Long story short, I want to bend it so that the lever closes completely. The way it is now, the lever does close but not 100%...85% is more accurate. If I can bend it back flat, it will close completely. How hot does it have to get? Red hot...do I need a special torch ....or will one of those little propane torches work?

thanks!

Are you talking about the 1/4" steel that the stove is made of? If so, you need more than propane. You need to get that metal red hot. It will damage the paint, but that can be repaired. If it is a cast iron latch or something similiar, good luck. KD

Fixing that is what independent auto body shops were born to do. Without having to jack around with insurance adjusters. They will do it cheap. And well.

Is it affecting the closing of the door? Is it leaking air? If not, I'd be tempted to let it go...

Call dent masters they come to you!

Without a pic I'm only guessing at what the damage looks like but I'm thinking its something a porta-power might be able to straighten out. If it requires a torch then maybe a large heavy duty c clamp might straighten after its red hot. Hard to imagine the dent hasn't affected the flatness of the stove front though.

A picture would help here so that we can see the degree and direction of the bend.
