Well, I did a couple of small break-in fires today with the T5. Very happy with the way things performed. Tomorrow, I might push it a little bit harder. At around 7:00 pm my wife, myself and my two children (4 and 2) gathered around the fireplace and just watched the secondaries while listening to Christmas carols. It was a very good moment. I hope to have many more. I am just a Friday night and weekend burner - but absolutly love it.

Thank you to everyone on this board who have helped me along the way, I have learned a ton and I am forever greatful.

Having a scotch as I type this post and thinking that I am a lucky man.

It looks great in that setting. So glad to hear that you are finally burning.

I'm willing to bet that you become an every evening burner before the season is over. And if the missus takes a liking, you may end up 24/7 burners.

( Just don't get the stockings too close. )

Thanks, it has been a long haul. Still waiting on my hearth pad, but the dealer gave me a "lender" until mine comes in.

Yup, I am very aware of the stockings. Thanks.

I really like those T-5 inserts! The cast iron block plate really compliments the stove plus your fireplace is nice to begin with.. I suspect you're gonna be using that insert more than you say you are..

Looks Fabulous Dan. You and your family are going to love it.
Sounds like the perferfect evening with the family and a toti. Keep
Me posted.
:)

Go Man go! +1 betting that you'll be moving beyond weekend burning. That's how it starts. . .then weeknights. . .then 24/7, 'cause it's just easier to keep it going than to do a cold start every night. . .then your wife sees how warm that part of the house stays. . .then you get a 2nd stove! :) By all accounts, that 2-cu-ft PE is one sweet-burning firebox. Enjoy!

Man, that looks great. That looks like a picture from a catalogue. I have the same hunch that you'll be burning a bit more as the season progresses. Good luck with it. May that stove be a blessing to your family for years to come.

Looks fantastic . . . thanks for posting.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I didn't get another fire in the box (just the Sat burn).

My next burn will be Friday night (I would have tried one sooner, but I am going away on business and won't be back until Friday). I will try to get an overnight burn so that when i get up i just have to put some more wood on the fire. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Dan

I got two out of three. I got a loaner hearth pad, I contacted insurance (they did not ask about the building permit). With these two I went ahead with a burn. The building insepector is coming this Friday. I will not be there for it (I am in Houston right now on business), but my wife will be there. I assume it will pass, if he questions the ashes in the stove, I told my wife to tell him that the installer wanted to test it out.

That won't last long. Really beautiful cowtown. Congratulations! I have to ask.....where did you get your copper tub. I have one at one of my wood burners and am looking for one at my new wood burner.

It is actually not copper, but some other metal painted to look copper. I got it for $15 at "Home Sense" a few years, back, not sure if they have that store in the US
