Well I went with the linteater as many here use. Long enough to do the outside pipe for me. I pick it up tomorrow, and plan to do a full stove and pipe cleaning this week.

Been using Linteater since I got into pellet stoves. Very satisfied.

I also bought a linteater set at the recommendation of people here. I have not used it yet on the stove vent but have used it on the dryer vent while I was changing the vent hood last week. It worked great along with the shop vac adapter!

Lint-Eater here also for the pellet stoves.

But they also make a Soot-Eater for pellet stoves. I have a Soot-Eater for the Woodstove (6") and Pre-fab fireplace (8") (bought an extra head).

I have a dumb question................

Is the rod for the Lint Eater more flexible than the Soot Eater?

Thanks.

The one plus I give the Soot over the Lint. Is the Soot Eater has locking rods and the Lint has threads. As long as you spin the drill clockwise, you wont have a problem. But on a woodstove pipe, that has a seam, its nice to spin it both ways.

Both just as flexible. IMO

Then I have the Lint. You can't run your drill in reverse or it will come undone and get stuck in the chimey/pipe!!

The rods are fiberglass and fairly flexible, but not quite enough for what I want to do.

I am Curious how big is the brush for the lint eater I have 3 inch pipe will it work for that. Also will it bend around a 90.

Thanks, Don2222!!

Very good information. And the 48" rod on the Soot eater is not flexible enough to do a 90* turn! Guess I'll figure something else out to get to the horizontal venting.

You are welcome.

I am going to pull out my 90 degree elbow and replace it with a T with a cleanout. That will be much easier!!

+1 on this Q. I have the standard Duravent 3" Kit from Lowes and would like to keep thing flowing properly. ;)

So, which is preferred...Sooteater or Linteater for 3" pellet pipe? Thanks, Mike

edit: Okay, I just saw the 4" diameter on the Linteater head. But I'm thinking the bristles are flexible enough for the rigid 3" pipe? And the sooteater says it's for 3" & 4" pellet pipe, so it must also be 4" diameter. It looks like nylon weedwacker line instead of the stiffer looking bristles on the linteater.

Guess it really does come down to locking rods or threaded rods. Thanks guys! :p

Grainger makes tubing brushes up to 4"
very flexible wire will go around 90's
I think they only come up to 3' in length
only draw back if you have a long run

Okay, things just got fuzzy again...I found a pic of the "pellet" sooteater and it looks like it has threaded links for the rods.

whereas the chimney sooteater rods have the positive locking mechanism.

So, it is really just the difference in head design separating the soot (pellet stove) & lint eaters.

Found a electrical snake with a led light, disconnected the light made up a connecter and have a very flexable 50' sweep.

Has anyone used the shop vac adapter that comes with the linteater system? I think it would be a good substitute for a leaf blower. You can use it while running the brush through the vent also if you want.

YES, I just received my sooteater kit and the rods are threaded - Dammit. Only reason I opted to pay more for the sooteater...

Damn. That sucks. The Soot-Eater for woodstovea lock together. I wonder why they wouldnt do it the same way?

If there threaded, then its prob the same exact rods as the Lint-Eater.

I have have two 45's in my vertical run. I attached a brush to an inexpensive wire fishing tape form Harbor Freight. Works excellent.
