Does anyone remember where the "How To" is where someone made a bracket or box of some sort? It was where you can put cuts and splits that are to long, stacked up, and just rip your saw straight down and have exact measured cuts every time. I need to make some exact 12" cuts for N-S pieces in my stove. Thanks in advance.

zap and a few others have built boxes for this purpose, you can do a search.

Wish I could get "my" wood DELIVERED as 12 inch splits!

awesome.....gotta build me one of these...Thanks

Glad someone brought it up, because I was going to look for that thread. Looks pretty simple and stable. My furnace will take anything that fits on my splitter, but they won't fit in the new stove. I have a fair amount that won't even fit E/W.

Thank you very much for the link. Loco Gringo, your setup is EXACTLY the thread I was looking for. I'd better get busy adjusting my wood piles and cutting shorter pieces of wood. I like to put 2 N-S pieces in the stove. Then drop in some kindling and a couple pieces of fat-wood, and a few E-W pieces. If I want a big fire, I'll put in a few more N-S pieces and lite er up.

Does anyone else use a Bernzomatic Solder Torch to start fires or is that just the Redneck in me talking?

Nothing wrong with that dog, just light it up.

I use a regular propane torch most of the time.

I made this for cutting wood shorter, works great.

I always use a propane torch to light a fire, nothing works better IMO.

I expect a few others here use a torch to light their wood stove, but that doesn't mean it isn't Redneck.

I use my big propane tiger torch to set my brush pile ablaze but inside the house, I use a wood "strike anywhere" match and 1/4 of a Super Cedar. I had one of those butane BBQ lighters but the wife hated seeing it on the mantel and hid it on me.

She musta left it on my mantel... I use the same thing and have no idea where I got it.
