Like a lot of Hearthstone owners, I sometimes refer to my Heritage as the Rock (not to be confused w/Kodiak Island, aka the Rock). I can tell you that named or not, I have very kindly feelings towards what is actually an inanimate object--but our stoves do have personalities, now that you mention it.

Ironic, since the move towards a more rural, self-sufficient lifestyle tends to result in, among other things, less use of names, perhaps even forgetting of names: "the Boy and I walked down to the lower 40 today"; "the Girl found a wild blueberry patch uphill of the House". The cat that moved to our household in last summer is still The Cat around here--a few names have been proposed, but none of them stuck. Maybe I've just lost the naming knack . . .

I had a friend who maintained that a stove wouldn't draw right until you named it.

I've nicknamed a few chainsaws in my time. None of them names would prodably make it past the moderators here tho. I usually renamed them after awhile to "Sold" or "Boatancher."

Nope . . . then again I never named my cars either.

The Alderlea earned the nickname 'Gentle Giant' as our fears of having a big stove dispelled. But whatever its name is, it's hot to trot if I ask it to.

I'm really surprised "the stove" is not taken. Now and then we might throw an expletive in between the and stove.

"Lopi" in the house, "Shop Stove" in the shop. That's about as "nicknamey" as I get. I call my Jeep "The Jeep". %-P

A friend and I both have Esse wood cook stoves. We both refer to our stoves as "Miss Esse". Awesome stove!!!!!!!!

Manny - not too creative! Cheers!

Our stove got named "Woody" during its first week.
