Indiana
City came past and cut down this double trunk ash tree that was on the easement in my front yard (far tree in the first pic) I asked them to leave the wood and now I'm cutting splitting stacking

How Sweeet it is.... Nice Helper TOO!

Great! That ash will make you some good firewood. Nice that you have such a good helper too.

Easy pickin's = every scroungers favorite. How much do you think you ended-up with?

It doesn't get much better than that. The more we burn ash, the more we appreciate it! Our warm house rates ash
better than cherry and just a tiny notch below red oak (though oak takes sooooo long to season and ash dries FAST).

Easy pickins, and Ash to boot. Doesn't get much better than that.

Put a Fiskars in the little guy's hands; Anybody can split with that thing!

That's what you would call an easy scrounge. haha

umm... a big pile LOL. No really I think I have about a cord but I still have several huge rounds to split up. The tree was a little deceiving because really it was two trees in one. I'll post a pic of the pile when it's all done- gotta take a day off my back is a little stiff and it's raining today anyway.

That's about how we rate it too.

well got some good use out of the farm boss and my 8# maul. the stack you see is a double row all the way down- not ideal for seasoning but ya know us city burners have to stack it where we can

Glad you got that wood and I agree that is a fine looking crew.

Nice looking wood, like the little helper too ;-)

Nice score. It doesnt get too much easier than that! Good looking crew also! What part of Indiana are you from? I'm a city burner too (Noblesville) so I feel your pain.

Bocefus I'm not too far from your- I'm in Muncie. I have a good supply of 2 yr seasoned wood that I've been burning so far, but I tried a few pieces of that ash just to see how it burns and I'm pretty surprised how well it burns only having been seasoned over the summer. I guess that's why when someone is low on wood everybody tells them to go find some ash.

You are correct! Once seasoned, you'll like it even more! There are some other members from your area as well on here. I met a few last winter.....good folks!
