My name is Matt McLaughlin. I live in Brooksville, Maine.

I've been a closet reader of the forums for quite a while now. I have been burning since 2003 and replaced our old wood stove (Cough cough Vogelzang Highlander). Re did the pad area this fall while waiting for our Woodstock Progress Hybrid stove. Getting excited now seeing that others are heard their stoves will be shipped soon!

Welcome
Is it cold enough to burn there yet?

Welcome, and thx for coming out of the closet. lol: yes, it its exciting waiting on a stove. I too enjoy reading about others getting pumped about it. Just need some colder weather here in pa. I imagine you have a bit of snow up there in maine? Again welcome.

Thanks! Cold?!?! This week so far hasn't been too cold... 50's during the day here on the coast! Snow?!? Last Wednesday was are 2nd snow storm of the season. The first one, well it snowed, but melted as it hit the ground here. But just 10 miles away (Blue Hill), they had 6 inches. And Wednesday, well that was a good one. 9 inches of wet / heavy stuff... AKA heart attack snow! LOL I'm back to bare ground now. And the grass thinks it's Spring again! It's super green all of the sudden...

Backwoods, where in eastern PA? I grew up just outside Trenton, NJ (Lived there for 25 years before moving up to Maine.).

I'm just south of the water gap. But I have fished for shad at the good old trenton powerplant on the deleware a few times. Also planning on peak bagging katadyn up your way when I'm done with the last bit of 4000 footers in nh. Good to meet ya!

Welcome aboard. Hope you spend some time here and give us a good review of the new stove. I spent a year in Rockland ME in the Coast Guard, beautiful coastline, almost got sick of eating lobster all the time.

Thats great to hear. Nothing beats a good, scenic, strenuous hike. My son matthew, is 10 now, started the 4000 footers when he was 8, and has bagged 10 of them. Hes been wanting to thru hike the A.T., but are sectioning it right now. Maine is on the list when we finish nh & vermont.

Shad in Trenton?!?! Nooo, Lambertville North of Trenton... :) That's were the good fishing always was for shad. On Katahdin, I've done a little bit of hiking there... Chimney Pond and the Knife Edge trail areas.

Welcome Matt . . . now don't be a stranger . . . feel free to ask questions, post your deep thoughts . . . and definitely post some pics of your new stove when you get it . . . having seen one of the nearly finished prototypes in New Hampshire I have to tell you I was quite impressed with the beast.

Oh yeah, been through Brooksville many a time (I didn't blink) . . . out of college I landed a job for a few months working for The Commercial Fisheries News out of Stonington . . . at least until I realized that a) driving 3+ hours in good weather was a long drive, b) I didn't really care for working for a trade publication and c) I don't really know anything about commercial fishing and d) I don't even like eating fish . . . now clams and scallops . . . that's a whole other story.

Thanks! LOL on not blinking going through Brooksville... Must have did the 10 mile loop! If you remember seeing Snow's Plumbing & Heating on the way into town, that's were I've been working for the past 11 years as the bookkeeper. Going to be borrowing the 3/4ton truck with lift gate and man power to move the big rock when the time comes!
