Just bought a St. Croix Scf-050 Multifuel furnace for 1500.00 complete with all the venting and duct work. I'm excited.

Great! Remember, no pictures = didn't happen! Hope it's getting installed soon, it's getting cooler out.

Congratulations on the furnace. I am installing a Fahrenheit Endurance now. Running electrical tonight.

Are you tying in to existing HVAC?

Thats a great deal. I paid $2,000 for the Fahrenheit. But had to buy pellet vent. I was given 3" from the previous owner. But Fahrenheit states to use 4" . Do it by the book..

Pics as requested. I still have to install the thing...run the venting and the duct work to the existing furnace. It's going to be fun.

Cool. I envy you, just a bit!

I couldnt resist, I ran it last night in the garage. This thing really throws the heat. I still have to figure out the clinker cutter. The former owner left me with a little corn. I have never burned corn before. I'll be going with pellets, but I might as well burn the "free" corn.

I asked about corn when I bought mine and was told that corn leaves larger and more clinkers.

The rake is there for really two purposes. One, is to cut off the top of the burning pellet mound. Two, you can push it in while the stove is running and the pellets will settle on it and burn, when you get enough burning on the rake, you then pull the lower rod to clear out the clinkers, then you push the lower rod back in and then pull out the top rod to allow the pellets on the rake to drop down to the normal burn position. Don't burn all the time on the rake b/c it'll ruin the rake and it'll have to be replaced.

I always thought that it was an automated system? The Fahrenheit kicks up to level 5 to initiate the cleaning. An actuator then pushes a cast burn plate over the pot. A fire is established on top of it (sounds similar to your rake) then the Pusher (back side of burn pot /kinda like a bulldozer) gets pushed by another actuator and cycles back and forth twice. Pushing the ash and/or clinker into the ash pan once the cycle is finished, the cast plate pulls back and the fire drops into the pot. It continues to burn on 5 for a few minutes until stabilized. Then drops down to the setting you had it at.

Pretty wild. Never seen anything like it before. Does this depending on the fuel setting (10 different selections). Actuators make a little noise. But not as loud as one would think.

Looking forward to more pics. I burned mine in the garage several times. Couldnt resist. Gotta play with the new "Toy".

The Revolution model is automatic but the SCF-050 is the bare-bones manual version.

There's no igniter, etc. You can hook up a thermostat to it. I was told the digital ones do not work with it and was told to get the old fashioned one if I wanted to hook one up.

Had to go back and read the OP. I thought he had a Revolution. Oops

Nope, not the Revolution. I wish. Manual light..(which is kind of fun) and pull knobs to clear clinker.

Still got a heck of a deal... Well worth it. And having to members with that unit means good guys to help people who come here with problems. Im only the 2nd member with a Fahrenheit (ChrisWNY has one). Lots of Harman furnaces and boilers.

Congrats. Looking forward to your install.

Finally got the furnace all installed last Tuesday. Probably not the most professional install, but I get heat in all the rooms and especially the room the new baby will have. (10 weeks along!) The heat that the furnace puts out is much better than the old oil furnace ever had. I am loving this thing so far. I just have to figure out the fan on/off settings. I want the fan to run a lot longer than it does. I don't want to have the fan running all the time but the house stays a lot warmer if I keep it on. I have it set up on a thermostat now.
Any advice on the fan settings? I think I have it burning pretty well now. The oil furnace didn't have a cold air return connected to it so I didn't connect one to the pellet furnace.
Now that I have the furnace hooked up, I haven't had to run the oil furnace, or the englander I have in the main living room.
Thanks so much for this site, and everyone in it. It has been a very valuable resource!!!

The wife is so excited about this furnace. (She is actually the one that pushed for it, and paid for it.) She is the perfect pellet wife!!

Is the On and Off temp adjustable? My Fahrenheit is set for 170*-175- On temp and about 100* Off temp. Furnace stays on Level 1 (pilot) almost all night. The furnace kicks on for about 5 mins, 3-4 times an hour just because it got to 175*. T-stat only kicks it up to level 3 about once a night. Other than that, the pilot (level 1) keeps the house at 72*. Just from the heat build up from that little fire.

Do you have any pics of the install?

Yeah, the on/off is adjustable but I just realized a bone head oversight. my duct work has manual airflow dampers. Fan on/off works better if the dampers are set correctly. Some of the rooms were closed off completely and a couple rooms partially. Air flow problem solved.:)

House is a solid 73 on pilot settings. I think I might have cracked the case.

The more I use the furnace, the more I Love it. It staying on level 1 90% of the time is a beautiful thing. Nights have been 15*-30* recently. Knowing there is plenty of BTU's left feels good.

I currently have my trims set Feed 3 and Draft 5 for Level 1 (Pilot/Maintenance). Seems to do a great job. Hasnt been cold enough to run all day. So it gets shut off at 6 a.m. and I fire it back up about 6 p.m. Using about a bag of pellets every 2-3 days. Cant wait till the real Cold gets here.

About those pics?? ;-P

I love knowing that I no longer have to pay for oil, and it is a much cleaner heat.

Haven't bought Pro-Pain in 2 yrs and still have 50% in the tank. The Quad has handled the duties for a few yrs and now its time to give the girl a break. Also, heating with the furnace is easier, as I have zero ceiling fans or through the wall fans ruuning, to keep steady temps. Just turn it on and the T-stat does the work.

The Quad did an awesome job. But we had to have 2 ceiling fans and the through the wall fans (corner fans until this yr) running, to keep the temps evened out.

Install looks great. Congratulations. Hope it serves you well for yrs to come.

Hi Dave,

I read through your thread, good stuff. Is it still working well for you? Just curios how big is your house, how many sq ft? Specs say it heats up to 1800sq ft. Mine is 2000 sq ft, but I've got another wood pellet stove as well, so thinking on really really cold days I could also add more heat that way. I live in MA, so we get some of those new england winters :) There is someone nearby offering one for $1750 will full 1 year service if anything goes wrong, so kind of thing it might be a good deal.

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I actually love it. I heated the house wonderfully, and cleaning is a breeze. Next spring we are having a gas furnace installed and we are connecting the St. Croix to that with all new venting throughout the whole house.
