Are these really so new nobody has them? There is a YouTube video from months ago. At up to an hour run time and at least a few decent sized logs being cut through on Stihl's website, this looks like a keeper....if the battery and battery pack didn't cost almost as much as the saw. :-(

Has anyone used one of these?

Talk about being able to "poach firewood"
The "is there noise when a tree falls"? issue may need some work. :)

Great for in neighborhoods & some trim or pruning work. Not a saw for cutting fire wood IMO.

Haven't used one yet but my previous experience with Stihl's corded electrics has been very positive.

I noticed a new Oregon model in the Bailey's Christmas flyer I got in Monday's mail.

2 different models,both with the Oregon PowerSharp system - $399 & $499 each.

Like others said, would be good for light duty & pruning around the house etc.Not something I'd take in the field for serious cutting however.

I've read some very positive reviews from carvers I'm familiar with. Pro carvers have a reputation for using too much gun for the purpose. I know one guy who uses a woods-ported 7900 with a skinny 16" quarter-tip carving bar. For these guys to be impressed, it has to be pretty good. They ain't exactly putting down the 80cc saw and grabbing this thing, but they say it gets the job done although slower. Great for these year-round pros in the winter.

Yeah, now I can't decide between the Stihl, the Oregon (longer bar, though not sure it makes a difference in these, self sharpener, a little cheaper, but battery megawatts not as high) or wait to see if the Husqvarna that is supposedly coming is better bing a year newer (or maybe they are just a year late with similar technology).

Interesting the Stihl uses 1/4 chain, the Oregon 3/4....would think the latter would be better for general cutting.

Anybody check the price on the Stihl? YEEEEEOOOCHH! $350 for the saw (battery NOT INCLUDED), $50 for the standard charger, $150 for the standard battery. I guess if you were totally committed to the cordless tools the batteries and such aren't a big factor since the cost would be spread out over many tool purchases but still. They do make a nice blower (looks a lot like the KM attatchment) and Hedge trimmer for the system tho. Battery belt is cool too since the tools are featherweights sans battery. My impression from handling the tools at the dealer is that they are built to last like Stihl's other products and for the price they damn well better be.
