Is it NWP or NEWP that is making Green Supreme? I was @ slowe's today and read the bag but don't remember which company makes them. I plan on testing a couple bags of Green Supremes and wonder if I should even bother.

use them as traction out on the ice! If we get ice this year.... You really don't like them? I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. I was thinking of getting 2 or 3 tons from SIB later in the season. Guess I'll have to see what others are saying before I go ahead and order. I do have 2 bags of each the hard & soft woods to try but being new, I don't know what to look for exactly.

i don't even know how much ash is a lot of ash as these are all i've ever burned.
but from reading here, i can pretty much for sure say that they are low fines.

my house is warm and i really like the delivered price i got from sib all the way up here.
and i'm not sure how much more i'd be willing to pay for a hotter pellet.
but i actually like these just fine. i'm sure i'll buy them again.

i'll have to wait for the real cold to hit. but i still expect to be below my 1&1/2 bag per day goal by the time winter has passed.

NEWP makes Green Supreme. Exact same pellet.

Thanks for clearing it up for me as I thought it was NEWP but started reading this thread and the NWP mixed me up on which was which. I'll give the GS's a shot.

I got through last season with just TreeCycle and this season I'm using mostly Greene Teams and do notice a big difference just by eye between the two. TC's I would clean after each bag and this year I ran 4 bags before I saw it was time to push the ash into the pan. But one bag usually lasts me 3-6 days so cleaning is not a big issue for me.

Hope the OP finds a way to like those pellets though. Maybe mix with a higher quality pellet to get by shoulder months.

I REALLY like the MWP Softwood pellet, but the hardwood blend is JUNK! TONS of ash, low heat ~ can't wait until I have burned them all!
Sorry they don't work for you. Can't say the same for me. Best pellet I have been burning. Will order more when these and my ashy Energex are gone. What I like is how they leave no ash in my burn pot. There is however, a heavy pepper like build up of ash on the pipes and any other surface. I clean up the inside every 3 days. Nice thing the ash brushes right off with the paint brush and vac's up easily. I intend to try some other pellets. Won't go with Okies as I am too cheap to spring for them. If I can find other reasonably priced pellets, I'll give them a try. I remember when I had ash from my wood stove that was a fluffy white ash. Haven't seen that in a pellet yet. I am heating a home 28 x 40 two floors high with one stove with these pellets. We are warm. Most of the time, too warm for me, but the wife won't have it any other way. 4th year burning pellets now. From what I have been hearing, there hasn't been another production run of the softwood MWP. All pine. One forum member complained that his entire inside was gummed up, even the blower, after burning softwood MWP. Can't help but wonder if that member was running his/her stove on the same settings as the mixed wood pellets. I don't have a lot nice to say about Energex, but I know they are not junk. Just not a satisfactory pellet for me because they chunk up in my burn pot which doesn't allow my stove to run the best it can. Jay has it right, try a brand first, then keep trying them as things do change.

I have the same problem with Indeck premium hardwood blend. They are just garbage in my stove, low heat, high ash, inconsistent burn no matter how I adjusted the combustion fan. Should have try'd a few bags out before getting a ton. Lesson learned i guess. Have fifteen bags left from the start of this heating season. Started looking around and didn't have to go far before I found something that works great for me. Picked up a few bags of Marth super premium, pine I believe. Work great excelent heat, low ash and can maintain a lower feed rate and combustion fan speed and still maintain 70 degrees in the house. Also try'd Pennywise another Marth brand pellet, worked better than the Indecks but not as good as the Marth super premiums. Will be picking up two tons soon.

I like the Green Supremes a lot. I'm now burning Lignetics. Same heat, but tons more ash! I won't be getting them again if I can help it. Instant Heats were better, too.

I had Ligs, blue label, the first year and you are right, the ash was horrible! I'm burning Great American Pellets this year and I like them, so does my stove! LOL
It is a picky little bugger. So far have burned 21 bags.

Im happy with GS but not with main woods

Just got a ton of Green Supremes yesterday...$3.05 a bag (if purchased by the ton) at Lowes in Tiffin, Ohio!! They had one damaged bag odf Somerset's left, So I asked the kid working if they had any more Somer's left. He start's telling me that they are the same pellet, made by the same plant, I say, I think you're wrong, But he assure's me they are the same pellet, but the Grenn's are a more efficient burner. So I'm getting a little irritated now and the wife say's leave him alone (I wanted to rip the tongue ring out of his mouth at this point)! So as I was walking away, I said my boys Dexter, T-jake, Smokey and others may be stopping in to teach you a lesson about pellets. He looked at me like I was retarded old man and the rest is history!! ;-P

I may be a rookie...But I'm learning!!

Just think of the looks that I get!

I burned 4 bags MWP this fall, blended. The most loosely compacted pellet I have ever burned.
They should spend a little more money and really compress them. Now burning my good ole Energex,
you can hear the auger snapping and popping, now that's compression.

I also burned 2 tons of the blended MWP last year, not a fan. They make the Green Supremes I'm burning now look like super premiums.

Now, THAT'S saying something!I've said it before- I'd rather cut between my toes with a hacksaw and pour tobasco sauce on the wound rather than burn Maine Woods or New England Pellets again!

I had good luck with the MWP blend. You guys make em sound like Inferno's.

If you gonna use them for winter traction, Let me know where I can pick them up. I'll drop of some sand in there place! Waste of a decent pellet IMHO! :red: Sad even!

Well I burned 3 tons of MWP Blend last year and they were just fine.

Please note I have no means on my stove to fine tune anything but the feed rate on setting 1, there is no damper.

The stove is also sitting close to the limit for 3" venting.

My normal cleaning schedule is once a week, the stove is a top feeder, I normally empty my ash pan once a ton.

WOW, I don't know what it's like to use that type of pellet where you can use a ton up before you have to empty the pan. Must be nice. I guess if I was using much more than just a ton per season I would want to find that same type of pellet.

I must say I'm having better luck this year with GT's where I was just able to run 4 bags and probably could have gone one or two more before I emptied the pan.

Just came home from sLowes and brought home two bags of the Green Supreme's. I am now 1 ton and 7 bags too much for this season if I compare usage to last.

Still worst pellet I have burned. Definitely NOT going to mix them with quality pellets! I'll burn these as long as I can before the real cold hits. Have about 40 bags left ~ now I know what their animal bedding must be like.

I would have to have a 20 GALLON ash pan for that to work!

I too only have to empty the ash bin every ton. MWP serves my heating needs very well. But then, I am only heating a home 28x40 with two floors at 73 to 76 F. with my one "space heater"
