Will the USSC 5500M work with a programable thermostat? I would want the stove to kick on around 4:00pm and off at 8:00pm. From what I've found on here it looks as if it would switch to low instead of off when the heat is not needed.

Have you read your manual, what does that say? The stove controls how it acts when on a t-stat. The t-stat is just a switch that says I want heat or I'm fine now.

I did not see anything about it in the manual. I did a search on this forum and from what I've seen it looks like it would only turn the stove on low. I do not have the stove yet but can get one at a real good price. It is going in my garage so I don't need the heat all the time. It is very well insulated.

The manual only mentions the stove must be in automatic mode for the thermostat to have any effect.

You could call USSC and ask.
