Well I broke down and bought the smoke hood from AHS. I thought more and more about it and decided that was the best thing to do. As I slowly get deeper into my wood pile I will get to the longer splits. I stacked my most recently cut stuff in the back, then a pretty large portion of the winter supply, which was the next cut, then the driest stuff last. I am working through the driest stuff and that should last me through December, maybe into the middle of January. Then the longest splits, 23" stuff will be the supply through the coldest part of the winter. The smoke flap was okay when using shorter splits. But with the longer splits I can see where it would be a pain if you wanted to load chamber up. Now everything is taken care of, the flap will not be in the way anymore, and the smoke will be gone out the back wall of the house. It is all vented, now I just have to wire up an outlet for it. And find a little side job to make $350 smackers, wife didn't want me to spend the money on it. ;-P
