I have a friend that is bidding on two different Castile stoves and trying to decide what to bid.

One needs the three speed control box which I thought was around 220.00.

The other has been parted out and needs

The control box
Igniter
thermocouple
combustion blower.

Anyone who wants to help with a bid or a good place to do business with please chime in.

Sadly the company I used to do business with is out of business and these are two of the stoves being auctioned. If he wins I am sure he will be buying from whoever is recommended in here or who helps with a quote.

Bidding ends at 7pm Wednesday so I apologize for the rush.

Auction has been postponed because of no one being able to view items.

Bidding is still going for another week. I hope to have serial numbers and model numbers soon.

I bought a quad Igniter from Clearview Fireplace and Patio in Pulaski NY through EBAY. They were very helpful and the igniter came a couple days after bidding. You may want to try them.

I'll speak for the combustion fan, just got one here this week for a little less than $200 from stoveguy13. Great service!

Kinda hard for a dealer, which is the only place your going to get the parts short of a single owner getting out of a particular stove, to bid on something they know nothing about such as model number and serial number. Kinda like bidding in the dark. I am not sure there are any dealers that are going to bring their parts and prices to you. It normally works the other way around with the stove owner contacting them. Pellet stoves are not like cars, sorry to say.

Unless your "buddy" is going to be at the auction it would be very risky to bid on something like a picked apart pellet stove. What happens when he wins the bid and then finds out that one of the mounting bolt holes is stripped out. Not for me. I know you didn't ask.

Good luck.

The viewing of items did not happen and no one got to view anything..otherwise I would have model number and ser number. The auction is postponed till a viewing. My new 'local' dealer wants 300 for a combustion blower they would have to order because they don't stock parts and only sell pellets for the first season after they sell a stove and do not care to speak to you unless you want to buy a new unit.

Thank you Czech and DaveS for the tips.. I now have more time and an actual opportunity to view the stove and other items I might be interested in. I plan to do business with people associated with this site until I find a good 'local' shop again.

Wow..bkins...thank you for your opinion... I am bidding for a co-worker that hates computers and we will regulate bid decisions depending on if one of us gets to see the stove and what other information we can gather. I would bid totally different on a blind bid than after seeing the stove and or more detailed pictures. The dealers in this area that I have found only care to sell new stoves and support them for one season which isn't for me. I hope to find another good dealer who cares as much or more about stoves and supporting them than pools and bbq grills. I am not afraid of a stripped screw, hole, or mounting bracket as I have made many such repairs as a mechanic. I guess in your eyes I should just go straight to fleabay and not give any people here who always help others here and own a shop a shot. Wow...not the way I do things...not for me.

Anyone else who might want some business and don't mind shipping please PM me. There are others I work with and know who love the stoves but hate the dealer support or lack of it that we have here.

If you're looking for a Quad dealer that ships parts, try contacting Hearth.com member Eric at Kinsman Stoves. Great guy, is a certified tech, and gives discounts to Hearth.com members.

Thanks man. I couldn't remember if Eric sold quad parts or not. I think Franks has a shop also. I need to keep him in mind also. I don't think a sticky would be allowed to have a business list of people who are helpful and informative as other places would find out and post their information and not be a part of the site for anything else but to have their name on the list. I am going to start my own list on paper of who sells what. For future reference. ,

I can't wait to find a 'stove shop' and am sick of the pool/hot tub/pool table/grill/new stove shops that can give you any information you need on how to correct the PH in your pool water but don't have a clue and don't care if your stove needs a part or service. " Oh we have pellets for grills only." GRRR

I have absolutely no problem with a business having an array of products so they can stay open from summer to winter... but if a place sells it they should support it in my opinion.

Hey Country Boy,
If I can help I would be happy to. I do list parts on Ebay (Clearviewhome), but also have a retail store. We answer technical questions every day and I have spent the day here trying to help people fix issues. I would recommend buying the one with most of the parts on it, but if you buy the other one cheap enough it would not be a bad deal. Used in good working condition a newer castile is worth as much as about $1800. New is like $2800ish. Control box is $289. Exhaust blower is $195, Room blower is $154. Make sure the wiring harness there. If your only missing a few parts, you can bid more than if the stove is just a shell. If you have any other questions you can just PM me.
