Not familiar with the Alderlea, but if its supposed to be anything like my Summit, it appears the inner door glass frame is missing?
BG, oh BG, someone with an Alderlea please step up.

Shadow,
On the inside of the door, is there a metal framing over the window and gasket on the inside perimeter of the door glass? On the Summit there is an metal frame with 4 clams that hold it in place.

HW - No there isnt, just seems to be the gasket and some small metal tabs. I have been trying to find a good pic to see if something is missing on mine. Looked at a Utube vid and it looks like there isnt one on it either. Cant be sure until someone with a Alderlea T5 speaks up.

Thanks for the input... I need to at least pick up some cement in an attempt to hold it in place for now thou.

How is it performing? You'll know it's a problem if you're getting runaway fires and black glass. I have never had a PE, but in my 2 stoves they didn't have a framing as Hogwildz is explaining. I'm sure BG will chime in here.

DFK - Having not owned a stove in my life and not enough time with the stove...I am not sure.
The glass got a little black just along the bottom of the glass and that is what got me looking at the gasket. Just being really cautious with it at the start...

tfdchief - No worries...just dont like to use the stove if the gasket is a problem.
Starting to get some cool weather here and want to be ready.

Hows the healing coming? I havent had any time at all to be on here of late.

Worse case scenario; replacing the gasket is easy. It looks like you might have a leak at the bottom, but I do not own an Alderlea and I have never used one. I'd wait for BeGreen to chime in.

Either way, if the stove is still controllable, I would continue to burn until you hear from BG.

BBAR - I will try to patch it up a bit no matter what and wait to see what BG
or another T5 owner has to say. I will just use it for smaller hot fires and keep
a close eye on it.

I dont know how hard it would be to replace the gasket on it...looks like it would
be a pain to me. I have no experience with this stuff thou...

Thanks

Shadow&Flame;, I am healing well so far. Thank you for asking. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday and am really looking forward to good news. It has been 6 months and the doctor, so far, is still not letting me do much.....no lifting or bending. But I feel like I could. I still hurt daily, but that is OK. I just want to be back to normal. I know, take baby steps......but I am just not put together that way. I really need to get going. Anyway, thanks for asking. You guys are the best!

I'll let you rebuild my Encore. After that, all stove maintenance is a breeze.

Seriously, though, it should be pretty easy.

tfdchief- Good to hear you are making good progress. I know the feeling about taking it
slow and hating every minute of it...ha Just do what they tell you and think of the
future and not the now....been there and done that.

Hope you get great news from the Doc!

BBAR- As long as you were there telling me the ins and outs of it...I wouldnt have a problem.
Flying blind is my issue thou...one of you stove gurus on here need to move a might south...ha

Skype and a laptop.

Per the schematics in the manuals, all the other stoves have a bar kit holding the glass inside with clamps holding the bars. But, your stove's manual did not show the framing bars. So I assume what you have there is correct. Have you fired up the stove to see how it performs?
Of all the T-6 and T-5 owners on this site, I can't believe not one has chimed in.

tfdchief - You are entirely welcome. Take care of yourself...

BBAR- Lord not something else to buy and work on...ha

Hogwildz- I did check the manual and look at some pics and didnt see a frame. Seems
like there should be one thou. I just got in the house and I have to be up at 4:30 so
no I havent had a chance to do a thing with it yet...

"Of all the T-6 and T-5 owners on this site, I can’t believe not one has chimed in."
They are all prob to busy working on theirs...ha

Time to grab a bite and crash...

FHS- this appears from the photo to be the glass gasket the manufacturer installed on the edge of the glass (all around) and then use glass retainer strips to hold the glass in place. the glass can be removed by first removing the glass retainers then inspect the track the glass sets in be sure that a piece of the cast is not holding the glass away from the frame that maybe causing air to filter in around the gasket and cause the staining you see or it could just be the extra amount of the gasket is interfering with the flow in the air wash and causing the staining with the wood smoke. in either case this gasket is availbale from many hearth dealers and is usually self adhesive and easy to replace.
