Western Washington
Who here in the forum lives in the Great Northwest?..check in, if you live in the Western Washington area, so I know who I can share any info (pellet prices..etc) with..

I'm in Bonney Lake....what kinds of deals are you getting on what brands? Cleanburn seems to be the most prevalent since Manke is in Tacoma. The last 2 years they could be had for about $200/ton. Bear Mtns seem to be held hostage down here in Pierce County and prices jacked up to $300/ton...$285 on "sale". Yes, they are made in OR, but so are Blazers and Pacific Pellets both of which I can get for $200ish most of the time. They say that Bear Mtn has increased their price, but yet I hear guys in Oregon getting them for $200/ton, so that doesn't make sense.

Was just wondering how many NW members there are myself.
Living on Bainbridge Island. Mostly burning Blazers...I think we paid $209 at Home Depot. I heard Costco had a great price on pellets (something around $175) but when I called they were sold out. Anyone know what brand they were selling?

I tried a couple bags of Natures Fuel out of Prineville. I was not impressed. My Clean Burns burn much warmer and cleaner. I get mine at Arrow Lumber for 200.00 ton.

I live up in the snohomish county area of washington. I bought a ton on Eagle valley for $164 at a lumber yard in Sultan, wa. The product is not great, but it does the job, with a little more ash to throw at the neighbors..:p as for the cleanburn pellets, I paid $205 for them at chinook lumber in snohomish..those are the better of the two..

Oly area here. Costco's pellets were from Shelton Olympus pellets.
I use the blazers mostly since im there once a week anyway. I just tell em not to unload a pallet and go in and pay for it and head home and throw it off in the driveway.

Are Olympus pellets the same as the old Atlas pellets? Seems like Atlas had a facility over in Shelton. Also, I heard from someone (can't remember who) that Atlas is making pellets again?

How are the Blazers? I have the option of them as well as my Clean Burns.

Pretty similar...the Cleanburn are slightly hotter, but much cleaner burning.

Unless I can't get them, I am sticking to my Clean Burn. I have been using them since 2004 with the exception of a year and a half period when we were living in our 5th wheel. You don't know how many times I was tempted to install a small pellet stove in that 5th wheel!

Port Orchard, in Kitsap County, Washington.
Burning Atlas pellets made in Columbia City Oregon. I purchase pellets from my stove dealer and am willing to pay a little more because their Service dept. takes very good care of me and have been pro-active scheduling service calls and ordering parts.

12/13/11: Edited to adjust Pacific Pellet's heat output.

McLendon's just delivered this years supply of Pacific Pellets for me. 2 tons @ $211/ton.

Here are my favorites with most heat output on top:

-Bear Mtn 250F
-Pacific Pellet 250F
-North Idaho Energy 220F
-Cleanburn (Don't have exact data, but do remember then being slightly hotter than Blazers)
-Blazers 215F

Now in order of value (price vs heat output vs cleanliness) IMHO:

Pacific Pellet @$211/ton
Cleanburn @$200/ton
Blazers @$200/ton
North Idaho Energy @ $260/ton
Bear Mtn @$298/ton

As nice as the Bear Mtn burn, they just are not worth $100 more than the others. All these pellets leave a relatively low amount of ash compared to what some of the guys back East seem to report.

They delivered for that price? Nice.

No, they have an $85 delivery per load. So my total was $211x2 plus $85 delivery +tax = $550 total. I think they can fit something like 8-10 tons on the truck. So, the more you buy, the better the delivery price gets. If they still have the Pacific Pellet next year, I'll just have them deliver my whole years worth at one time (3 tons). If I had a truck, I'd pick them up myself, but $85 is not too bad considering they put the pallets right where you want them.

You tellin' fibs...I thought you used Dragon voice software!!! :-/

Just put my first bag of Pacific Pellets in the hopper...I might have to modify the heat ouput...my stove got as high as 253F. They seem to be as hot as Bear Mtns. I'm happy about that :)

Thanks Dave! I will try that. I'm generally happy with any of the above pellets. But, if I can get ones that are hotter than others for similar money, that is even better.

Puyallup, Washington checking in. I burn nothing but Bear Mountain. No I do not like the price bit I do not like Clean Burn and Blazers aren't hot enough. I don't like Clean Burn mainly because they are not normal/standard size.
