I've seen this all over the place but don't know what it stands for. I think you should have a sticky link that lists all the slang, or acronyms or whatever is most commonly used by the forum members around here that the less experienced of us can refer to. Even the initials or nicknames used for some pellets would help (although most of these I think I've pretty much figured out. %-P

Outside = O
Air = A
Kit = K
__________

OAK

Outside Air Kit, outside air to feed fire instead of no OAK & using inside air to feed fire.

Thanks, now it makes perfect sense.

Having said that is there an advantage to it? I hope so because I have an OAK installed on my brand new pellet stove. The guy who installed it called one of his references and they said I would burn through pellets like crazy if I added it. He didn't want to do it but I'd read that if the OAK was installed the distance required from the exhaust hole to windows could be reduced to 9" from 4ft. I also didn't want the air intake inside my house. Call me paranoid.

His reference is full of crap.

Could be referring to the deciduous tree known as Quercus robur. :lol:

I totally agree!

I think of it like this, all that air going out the vent pipe has got to come in your house somewhere. If you don't have an OAK istalled it still comes in. Most likely where you are going to feel it, every little air gap. The more air tight your house the harder your stove is working to get oxygen in the combustion pot, which in theory could create a lazy flame. Am I pretty close on this? I don't have an OAK installed yet by next year I am going to have one.

Maybe we should all install one of these in our OAKs to get better pellet economy:

Not sure if everyone will get the joke....

I put two of those in my car, and I have to drain the gas tank every few days or it overflows!

My house was built in 1850. All I've got is leaks! I don't really worry about CO because I'm pretty sure it would just leak out the leaks. Hence the reason I got a pellet stove as the price of fuel oil was killing me.

Well, you know I won't get it. What the heck is it?

It's a fine product called Tornado Air which if you install in the air intake of your car it magically gives you unprecedented gains in fuel economy. In other words, it's a scam.

Thank heavens you identified it as a scam otherwise I would have gone out and bought it!! (but I would have sworn to its benefits and written testimonials in its defense) :blank:

Stop your killing me.

And if you install one of these, you'll have so much power & gas mileage, you could go from NY to Ca. on one 20 gallon tank, and be going 200MPH while you're driving there.

Rumor has it that Krooser has both on his pellet stove, and gets 5 days burning from 1/2 bag of Infernos.
