Hey how is everyone doing? I just bought and installed a St Croix Prescott EXL and love it so far. I am located WAY upstate in NY. I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself now because i am sure i will have questions as a go. This place looks to have alot of expeirenced people...!

Glenn

Welcome mach23, You've come to a wealth of knowledge and great people to lend you a hand in your new adventure!

Most will ask you for a few things. Like a picture of your install(we love checking out new stoves). What brand of fuel you burning(we love chatting about our precious pellets) and You probably should add the stove model to your sig for future references.

Enjoy the new toy! ;-)

Hi Glenn, welcome and hope you enjoy it here! Top notch guys for sure!

Hi Glen. Welcome to the forum.
I'll be your friend if you wanna be mine. Stick with me kid, I will get you in with the "cool kids" and then you can sit at our lunch table.
Anyways, you say that u have new a stove, but without pics, its just talk. Just Bustin'- but tell us whatchyou got. And what are you running through the stove for pellets. Careful, this forum gets addicting!

Welcome to the club! Pictures for sure! Lets see that stove.

Welcome from another St.Croix guy! You'll learn a bunch in this forum.

Heres a pic. I vented it out the wall then straight up outside above my eves a few feet. As you can see from the window, it has some build up. The manual states a tan color is fine but this seems to be a little darker. Any advise for the new guy? I have burned about 7 bags of Instant Heat pellets for tractor supply and i seem to like them but have nothing to compare them to yet. I bought a bag of logik-e today and plan to try them tomorrow. Let me know what you think...
EDIT- And yes OLDMOUNTVERNON i am married...ahhaa

Nice looking stove, I was seriously considering an EXL when I bought my Quad.

Welcome Mach23 you have found a strange place here.

I have a bit of advice for you, get a decent surge protector for the new toy. I'm old and my eyesight might not be 20/20 however I didn't see one where the plug hits the outlet.

Oh hai! <------------------------------ Pellet newb myself

Does it wipe off easily? Where is your air adjustment set at? Is the shaker pushed in?

Congrats on the stove purchase. The Prescott is my favorite!

Most wipes off easily but around the edges of the glass it comes off alot harder. yes shaker is pushed in all the way, and my air is about 1/4 or a little more open. Other than that i love the stove, great heat and no more furnace oil!!!

Hey Mach 23 how far upstate NY?

Welcome to the forum. I've only been here a couple of months myself but this forum and its knowledgeable people have been a godsend to me.

There are quite a few Upstate NYers here. I'm from south Central NY. Cold is just starting to settle in and you'll be getting hammered if you haven't been already with that nasty white stuff!!

no white stuff so far, i would be willing to bet i am farthest upstate. I live in plattsburgh which is about 30 miles from the canadian border. Not looking forward to snow, but will be glad to be nice and warm by the new stove!

Congrats on the stove install, and welcome to the forum from one of your "way down south Hudson Valley NY" neighbors.

Did you get that surge protector on the unit yet?
