finally filled system ready to lite the first fire. decided to test pump. pump is wired to aquastat then a switch. bypassed aqaustat, turned on power and only got a slight motor hum. tried all 3 speeds same sound.im assuming if wired directly to power it will turn the pump on. these grundfos's arent that quiet are they. i feel no vibration in the motor at all. really bumming,

I just had that happen with a new 26-99. Would get warm but not turn impeller. You can try removing the end cap on motor and try turning the impeller with a small screwdriver. It did not work for me, I think the capacitor was bad.

Good luck

thanks goose ill give it a try. thought it might be air flushed the hell out of it every which way through the pump

If there is some air in it, I'd think you'd be able to hear some little gurgling type noises.

My circs are very quiet, I sometimes have to put my ear right down there to hear anything. Can you take the cap off & watch the end of the shaft to see if it is turning?

i took the cap of tried jump starting w little screw driver. nothing, the shaft does spin w my help. water came out when i took the cap off. is this normal? o well atleast i bought beer. guess ill be calling lyme monday. only a hour plus drive so maybe i can burn mon night. thanks for the responses.

You could have a broken shaft. If you see the end of the shaft spinning when the plug is removed then the motor is fine. The shaft can break if the unit is dropped. Isolate the pump, remove the 4 allen screws and see if the impeller is still connected to the motor shaft.

Just tried installing a UPS 15-42F three-speed from the donated salvage bucket today.

It wouldn't run on the bench, but it was humming at least.

So I fed it a tablespoon of ATF from the discharge side, worked the impeller around, and it freed up when it was good and ready.

Pumped some water with detergent through it, put it in service, and it looks like we're good to go.

Probably should have disassembled it to free it up, but there was another one that did run, so I felt the risk was low enough.
