As a rookie, I continue to look at my outside exhaust expecting to see some smoke coming out the pipe.
No matter what setting I'm running at, it's hard to get used to not seeing any smoke.
I can smell the wood exhaust, but it still baffles me that it's not visible.
Does this indicate that I am getting a clean/thorough burn?
I performed a weekly clean today and no signs of creosote buildup, just a light brown powder residue.
I think I'm catching on as to adjusting airflow, as different brand of pellets need to burn thoroughly.

I would say it's because it's a new igniter and maybe you burning soft wood pellets?

A pellet stove that is running correctly will have virtually no smoke coming from the exhaust.

Cool, that's what I like to hear.
My only igniter is my propane torch!

Not a fan of the Easy Heats, I see. I have had my issues with them to. Not really the ash or the length. .

I have learned to love them. I have a lot of them and will use them as a shoulder pellet. Even if it takes 2 seasons to get rid of. They do what there supposed to do. Still have a bag in the hopper now. Mayne next week it will be time for something better.

As for the smoke. Your doing something right, not wrong. No smoke is a good thing and the color of your vent sounds pretty good also. Great start to a great year.

What other pellets do have locally? I just drove 40 minutes East of my work yesterday (Middlefield Oh) to grab 15 bags of Old Dominions. I already have almost a 60 mile drive home. So I added a lot of "Seat Time" yesterday. But the hunt for the ever elusive Great Pellet continues. Till then ... Somersets are the $#it.

DD you do have the fever, huh!
The only other brand around here is what TSC caries-- house brand, Lignetics
HD had some stove chow, but sold out now. The 2 bags I tried were decent burning
. Nearest store is Piqua, called today & they have plenty for $177/ton
I'll stick with the somersets & my stash should get me thru this winter. Less than 900sq. ft to heat. :)

I love not seeing any smoke coming outta that pipe. It shows you how efficient your stove is burning. Nice!
