My ex had a hopper extension....

Smoke,
Now at work, will post some pics of how I installed my hooper extension when I get home tomorrow.

I think you will be very pleased with the new addition, after I installed the hooper extension my 11 yo son began telling all of his friends that we heat our home with an "Ol Abe Heater".

sounds good.

Smoke,
Your hopper will come with mounting instructions that say that the hopper can be installed by bending the tabs on the bottom of the hopper with a pair of pliers. I did that and was not satisfied with the results.

I removed the hopper and straighted out the tabs . Then I drilled 1/4" holes around the interior of the hopper. I put down a heavy bead of high temperature silicone on top of the old hopper gasket material and bolted the hopper down with 1/4" X 5/8" NC stainless steel bolts, nuts & lock washers. Then I installed the old hopper lid to the new hopper extension.

The hopper is sealed very well and works great. We have put these extensions on four other stoves that belong to family and friends, each one of us used the bolts when we installed them, as we do not plan on removing them.

When your hopper arrives you will have to decide how you plan to install it.

Good luck I think you will really like it.

Here are a couple of pictures of the bolt pattern (located at the red & blue markings) and where the silicone sealant was placed (yellow marking).

No time to try it.

Took 45 mins from start to finish.

Read the directions then did it my way.

Seems to be a quailty product.

How much more can you fit in now?

Even though it holds more I bet you still check just as much as before! ;-)

We all expected it to be done that way, but please, tell us how the lid got put on the right end of the extension? (... bear is making a very fast entrance into his smoke and TND proof shelter and shutting the door ....)
