So I'm out back CSS'ing some of the wood I've scrounged up when I hear "sir.. Sir.." I see this guy peeking over the gate.. He's with the gas co saying my gas meter isn't working. I say no we just dont have a gas stove for heat anymore and that nothing but the dryer is running on gas. Funny chit I thought.. Even funnier is that I told the wife that this would brobly hapen about a month ago. Got to talking to him and he burns firewood also. Just had to laugh!! Pat.

Nice stacks - front and back!

Yeah, my propane guy was the one who suggested I burn wood. I only see him once a year, as I still have a dryer and HWH on propane.

Free wood SAVES me thousands of dollars! I'm healthy from the exercise and comfortable with the warmth. Like Charlie Sheen - we are all winning!

It a great feeling Pat, no oil delivered to our house since 2009 and the tank is still 3/4 full. Nice job on the wood, keep up the good work.

So YOU GUYS are the ones!! Yer contributing to higher unemployment, which we all gotta keeping working to pay for!!

Hey guys keep it quite! People may discover this site, then we will have to buy wood from the gas guy!

Looks like you still have plenty of yard to fill up! Shame to cover up that nice new fence though

Its funny how fast they respond when THEY think your meter is not registering correctly! I suspected my gas meter was spinning to fast once(one of the dials would stick for 2-3 seconds and then leap ahead) and called the Utility Co. They farted around so long that I finally told them that I am a plumber and I WILL remove their meter and install a "spool piece" until they come replace it. Wouldn't you know, there was a nice shiny meter hanging there that next afternoon! Of course I recieved a letter saying that they tested the old meter and it was reading correctly! Sure it was!
Every since we had our stove installed last year, I've been hoping they come by to check my meter!

Nice pics curber. Thats some blue sky in Idaho.

I always laugh when I watch the propane truck drive down the road. At 2.18 gallon it doesn't take long for the savings to add up.:)

It is a buck higher a gallon here. Glad our tank has been gone for two years.

i havent even turned my propane valve on in my shop this year. it is very nice.

The propane guy come by the house when no one was at home and filled it up to 75% @ $2.89 gal. It was on 40% and i had a note on it not to add until 30% but he filled anyway. I own my tank so I put a lock on it now. Now with woodstove only thing needing gas is dryer and water heater and hopefully I won't have to use my central heating unit. I guess the gas man got the last laugh on me this time.

Pat, what kind of wood do you burn in Idaho? There isn't any hardwood out that way is there?

Al Gore should be personally thanking all the renewable energy users, instead, some 'officials' view stoves as polluters. When burning hot with the secondaries dancing, there's nothing cleaner. My gas charges were $0.00 last month. However the meter fee for having gas service and the tax on that comes to $32 a month whether I heat with wood or not. Gas company around here is sneaky.

I just got my first gas bill for the year and it was only 12 bucks. Last year at this time i had already paid 200 for heat. Only the furnace uses natural gas everything else is electric. First year burning and I am already hooked and looking for more wood and a bigger stove to get the bill down to nothing

My gas man just sent me a bill for the rent on my tank LOL I have not bout gas in a year. $50.00 for rent on the tank, hope it makes him feel good.

Good for you curber.

Well as far as cutting out of the forest its Douglas fir, lodge pole pine and quaking aspen. But sence I got hooked up with the tree service guys I've got H/L,B/L,ash,elm,white birch, silver maple. In that order. About 5 cord for 2012/13. This years wood is about 4 cord lodge pole pine left for this year. Pat

The gas man stuck stuck it to me yesterday for $4.99 a gallon. Higher fuel prices they said was to blame. I hate fossil fuels!!!!!!!

Tell them to come get the tank. Then mention to them, "Oh, BTW, I spent a lot of money on my lanscaping, so any damage that your people cause- and yup, we have pics of how it looks now - I will be forced to send you a bill from the lanscaping company."

Comes around goes around. Seriously, who do they think they are?

When I get the tank rental bill for not meeting the minimum purchase qty (and I haven't for a long while) I'm going to tell them to come get the tank. Bad thing for this is mine is underground. Then I'll counter-offer to buy it for dirt cheap. Should be a fun conversation if it ever comes up.

Same here, at $3.89 a gallon for propane I cant imagine what I am saving to keep my house above 70 degrees, just had it filled last month for the first time in over a year, over 500 bucks for 150 gallons or so, f them.
