Here is what I came home to today. After 12 hours this is what remains of a medium size load of boxelder. Cat probe was still at 300 degrees with the fan on medium. House was still at 72 degrees. Not too bad for boxelder.

Added some more boxelder splits and a couple minutes later we're back in business. Should be good until morning.

Did you fire up the air on those coals before reloading them? That's something I do, but might not be necessary? Blaze them up a bit before throwing the "cold" load on them.

I do the same as you. The pics were after I opened the air for a couple minutes. I let it heat up for a few more minutes while I was bringing in more wood. It brings the cat temp up and gets the fire going quicker for me. That second load went another 12 hours with a lot of coals in the morning.
