Oh man. That's an avatar. Profile pics are facebook :)

Nice step up on the stove. Get the paint burned in now while you can open the windows. Might be able to have a real fire tomorrow night.

Yup, that's me. I think this is the one I used for the avatar. You will no doubt notice the proper milk crate, hot seat and the proper method of splitting wood; vertically.

I'm jealous of your woodpile Backwoods......and your splitter. :)

I think my milk crate can compete with yours though.
Gotta start somewhere I guess.

You know when I rent a splitter thats almost exactly what I do however I use an old folding chair works great

Hey Dirt, the milk crate is getting a bit old now but so is the splitter and I'm starting to get there a bit myself!

Pete, last year I used a small step stool rather than the milk crate because I was still recovering from hip surgery. It seemed to work well as it put me a bit higher which was appreciated by the hip. Not sure what I'll use next spring. Time will tell on that one.

Dennnis,

I tried the milk crate method, but found I could not generate enough head speed on the maul. I am going to try a 6' step ladder this year!

Oh, and Pete, nice stove!

Remkel, you might try fastening a stone onto the maul and then climb a tree and throw it at the wood... I'll stick to the hydraulics though.

I'm going to have to buy a longer length of rope- I will be certain to post photos when I try it.
