This is quite possibly the best burn I have ever seen in a wood stove. The TL300 holds coals longer than anything I have seen aside from Blaze King maybe as long! This is a Cadillac ;-P . My old Vogelzang and US Stove wonder wood could not even touch the burn times of this stove. The lighting of it is very simple to do just stack the kindling in a cross pattern and leave the damper open for 15 to 20 and boom you got a coal bed. Then you shut the damper and away it goes!

Burn on :)

Eileen it feels so good to have a wood heat again! I honestly don't know how to function without it anymore, I thought I would go crazy when our old stove died :ahhh:

Thanks

What type of wood do you plan on feeding it during the coldest months?

Nice fire and good-looking unit. There's just nothing like the heat from a woodstove. It warms ya right to your core, doesn't it?

Stove looks even better now that there is a fire in it. Enjoy!

Good looking stove, enjoy that wood heat again!

Zap I have alot of ash, walnut, elm and oak so the coldest months will be the oak and ash most likely. I love ash probably my favorite fire wood because of how it burns when dried right, oak is better but I still love some ash.

Gark it is such a nice warmth that you dont even want to stop in the summer! However my wife wouldnt like the stove in summer

Fredo hows the oak treating you, is it burning well?

Pete

Pete, oak is working out better since I had additional 3 feet of stack put on my outside chimney. What a HUGE difference. Oak could use a Lil more seasoning but it is much more manageable.

I even saved a little bit of electricity this morning. I got a piece of tin foil, placed it on top of my stove and toasted a couple pieces of toast, deelish! Next is a 12 oz porter house, medium rare with baked potatoe ;-)
Oh, I forgot the most important part of the meal, Sudsss :)

Hope you are doing well Pete

Thanks
Fredo

You have made me hungry Fredo I am going to use the grill grate that came with my stove this evening I hope I cant wait. I am glad to hear your having good luck with your stove.

Pete

Looks great Pete congrats!

Pics...or it never happened.....when it happens....

James02,

I have to redeem myself and get those pics posted here at Hearth. Gonna sit down today and try to figure how to upload, honest...

Looks good, Pete. May you long enjoy what it brings you.

Please satisfy my curiosity, though, about distance to flammables with that stove. Seems it must have substantial infrared shielding on back AND sides. Can't see in the frontal picture. (My little Morso has same on back & below to get low distance to flammables.)

John The picture is a bit deceiving it is actually farther away from the walls than the required distance from the wall and has heat shields on back and sides of the stove.

Back requirement is 18" I have 29" away

Side requirement is 20" I have 38" on the right side and no wall on the left.

Front requirement to the edge of the hearth pad is 18" I have it at 19".

The heat shields are quite impressive the can be touched with your hands when it is hot and you won't get burned, the top on the other hand is very hot 400 to 600 running temp so far.

Sounds good Pete1983, dropping down to 19 tonight so it looks like some sugar maple with beech, time for the pellet stove to take a break and start heating with the Liberty again.

Looking great Pete. BTW I just think those andirons look real classy on that unit.

We're happy for you Pete. We understand what the situation was and now you'll be able to come home to a warm house. You'll even enjoy the Holidays much better.
