I can think of about five hundred other things it applies to also.

Everyone who came over for a bon fire this year tried to tell me I had enough firewood. I scoffed at them and told them you can never have enough firewood, it's not like it expires like milk if properly maintained. My neighbor lady tried to tell me the same thing, "You'll never burn that much wood. It'll rot before you use it, we don't use that much." I simply thought to myself, too bad for you.

Oldtimer I know told me after Oct's big snow and subsequent power outages in the NE: "These people are all gonna die, they got million dollar homes that their gonna freeze to death in" I never heard this guy say a bad word in my life, but he knows what you need to get by when the s--t hits the fan. He's got a big wood pile and he's a pretty good shot, he's not starving or freezing. He doesn't need power to enjoy a nite @ home either.

Nope there isnt. Long as I have a place to store the extra & have a spare 3-4 hrs each week & feel like it,I'll keep cutting splitting & stacking.

Nice to have a future stash in case I get sick, injured at work or something else happens that prevents me from working in the woods.

May run out of space, but that doesn't mean I have too much wood

NEVER! If anything not enough time to c/s/s. But I guess that's a good thing. I'm a good 6-7 years ahead and still going strong. :)

I've never had too much firewood and never expect to have. But then, perhaps I don't know what is too much.

Too much is when you no longer have a clue how much you really have, or even where it all is. Of course, that could also be old age kicking in.

When the neighbors start looking at me weird , I stack higher. Ty

To help any with a paranoid psycosis of too much firewood is welcome to to donate to my cause for better btu's in the home. Donations should be dropped off at the back of the house to revent those with aggressive hoarding tendencies from being tempted. Looking at it that way your donnation helps at least three people. That should make you feel better. Just make sure not to block the two track so I can get another load in will ya?

I'm covered for the next three years. Today a friend gave me 2 cords cut to length. He came with to drop it off at my house. "you have too much wood, what do you want my wood for?". Unless you're a burner you just wouldn't understand!

Quick story, in addition to getting 2 free cords today, I was able to borrow a stake body with hydraulic dump. SWEET! Four hours invested and it's at my woodpile ready to be split.

I was hauling in a load today and my neighbor stops and says sarcastically " when are you going to burn that, NEXT YEAR"....meaning i have more than enough to get me thru the winter....he cuts wood when he runs completeley out and burns it the same day.

I politely said "something like that....i try to replenish what i use so i stay ahead. You never know when you might break a leg or something." I was really cutting wood for '15/'16....maybe the year after that....not sure...i have a lot of firewood.

"TOO MUCH FIREWOOD" = A 3 word phrase that neither myself or anyone I know who cuts firewood has ever uttered! :)

Oil prices up this way average about $3.89 a gallon, never enough wood.

Firewood is the perfect hedge against the rising and fluctuating costs of fossil fuels especially if you don't have access to NG. I never liked excess fuel sitting in the propane tank but feel completely opposite about having "free" firewood around.

I've uttered those words before. But quickly got over it and kept cashing in on scrounges. Free wood is hard to beat.

As a second year burner, I bought log length wood last spring to make sure I wasn't relying on scrounge wood only. I had 4 cords from my woods ready for this tear. The log length brought my total to 10 cords and I picked up 1 cord if pine. I was promised about 4 more cords of mostly oak with a little maple thrown in. That turned out to be about 2/3 of a cord. BUMMER. He is either going to sell the rest or burn it himself. Now my boss, who only burns for pleasure, has between 4 and 6 cords in rounds he wants to "give me as much as I want". He doesn't want "to much firewood". I don't think I'll try to convince him otherwise. I just hope it pans out. Il be set for 3+ years and mostly oak.

Yes, my neighbors think I have too much already. I won't be able to convince them either.

To semi quote BB ...

"He/she who dies with the most wood wins."

Dang !!! I hope one day i'll be in a situation to think i might maybe have to consider i probablly have to much wood, but i am a few dcade from this. Barely uave enough wood for this winter..... But eventually i will quit this crazy job on the road and then i will have time to start prepong my ''too much wood pile, in my mega giga too much wood shed....

1) Wood doesn't go bad usually if you store/stack it right.

2) Dry, seasoned wood always burns better than wet, unseasoned wood.

3) You never know when you might have an ATV accident, fall off the roof or become sick and not be able to put up the following year's wood.

All three very good, valid reasons.

You, like others will be amazed at the difference an extra year makes on firewood. That is almost like getting a new stove because it works so great.

I was equally amazed at the second year ahead as the first. Thinking the third may just be insurance but too soon to tell.
