a while back i asked for help with mt PE T5 short burn times. i got some great help and advice. my stove is only 1 season old and never went more than 5 hrs. well, while looking for a reason why and trying everything that members suggested i had no luck. till one night i opened the door and the glass gasket fell out on the latch side of the door. the next day i go to remove glass to reinstall the gasket and come to find out that its over stretched and is about 1-1 1/2 inches too short!!! thanks PE for cutting it short and not caring about a quality job. so after a new gasket my overall longest burn has been almost 9-9 1/2 hrs with being able to rake coals and reload.

thank you all for being so helpfull and i hope this might help someone that has a similar problem.

Definitely a good tip. Thanks for the update. There should have been a shipping checklist with the stove. See if everything got signed off. Maybe send a copy to PE to let them know that at least one of their QC people is slacking.

That's good news and now you're getting normal burn times.. Where did you buy the gasket mat'l and how much was it as I am thinking of getting it as a backup along with a few other spare parts.

purchased at my local stove shop. i got 6 feet of gasket for $9.
WOW what a differance in the performance of my stove. i cant explain how happy i am now.
i also for got to mention that i plugged the dime size hole on the left side of air control too. i got that idea from another member here from a old post

That's great to hear Marreque! What will plugging the dime size hole do for stove performance? I get very good burn times already..

i notice more control and my coal bed lasted longer if we werent home for say 10-12 hrs.

i just used alum foil to plug hole. so its easy to remove if need be

That's the EBT intake port. It's only on the 3 cu ft models, T6 and Summit.

BG that is something I was aware of and like you said that's only on the Summit and T-6..

Could you elaborate a little on this hole. I have a T5 and struggle to get more than 6hrs on a load with the air all the way down. Glass gasket seems to be good but the stove runs away with the air turned down.

WHEN LOOKING AT THE STOVE ITS ON THE LEFT SIDE ON THE UNDERSIDE, PULL THE ASH PAN OUT.

I owe you a beer brother! Instant air control, finally. Can't wait to sleep in tomorrow and reload at my leisure.

I like the others thought only the big PE's stoves had it, on my summit it is bigger than dime sized and the is a small hole in the middle of it. Has anyone seen in print where the T5 had EBT?

The T-5 does not have EBT just the T-6 and Summit do.. I think the poster is referring to an air intake that prevents total air shutdown to prevent smouldering..

That does not make sent to me either, the hole for the primary air has the sliding piece on it and you could not plug it with foil tape. I did not realize you had a T5 also so you have first hand knowledge of this.

I haven't messed with anything on this stove as it gives me 10+ hour burns plus I am a relative newbie with the T-5 but not woodburning.. I haven't gotten around at looking for this "hole" yet but I may look out of curiosity when the stove is cool..

Looked at my stove and I do believe you are right, they must be covering up the primary air hole.

Your right, it is a hole for primary air! To the left of the adjustable primary hole and not affected by the damper. Its just a hole that is always wide open. May work fine on some setups, however I have 16' of insulated pipe that goes straight up and once the draft gets a fire going, the fire would run away. The glass is a little dark since plugging the hole but at least I can close the windows and doors! Thanks PE, this should have been adjustable and will be when I'm done with it.

Thats kinda weird, on the summit the primary air just does do not close all the way. I have 16 of class A and 5 feet of stove pipe and I think I need a little more, no way should a stove run away on 16 feet of pipe.
