Finally had some time to clean up a beech, some red maple, and a little yellow birch that had been dropped by a road crew back in June. Enough to finish one pallet of beech in one pic (the 3rd front pallet from the right side) and fill the last pallet of the row with beech (left of the previous pallet). Also was able to stack the red maple for next should season (second pic). Not sure if the single stacks will make it till next fall - we'll see! Last pic is a small stack of red maple kindling splits - I plan to make a lot more for short hot shoulder season fires. Cheers!

Nice piles of wood. The winter has been unseasonably warm so far. You may already have enough for 2015/16. I have 2012/13 ready and 2013/14 is about half way there. Need to scrounge some more.

Nice cache of wood. Gunks is right you may well be further ahead of the game than you think. I've been burning alot of shoulder wood due to it being mild and haven't even touched my main supply.

Yes - this year's wood in the barn has been going down slowly. I still have about 1 week of shoulder season wood left before I dip into the real winter's wood - I was way past my shoulder season wood last year at this time. Cheers!

NH, you have wood that is worth more than a few CD's in the bank for sure. It gives one a great feeling just looking at the wood piles. Yes, it was a lot of work but it did the body good too. That makes it even more enjoyable when it keeps your family warm during those really cold January days.

You guys with the pretty stacks suck :coolsmirk: Nice work.

Thanks guys! Just for fun, here are some shots of the other wood stacks! First pick is next year's supply, next is the year after, and next is this years' stash in the barn. Cheers!

Nice work NH. Stacks look good. That should dry nice. I envy you guys with all these stacks and all this wood. I have 2012/13 c/s/s. I think I will get to work on 13/14 over the next few weeks. Good time to work in the woods. No bugs, nice temperatures. And I have some time off. The only problem is this week it looks like it is going to be in the high 30s low 40s. :blank: The top of the ground still isn't frozen hard enough yet. The last two nights and tonight will help though. But then the warm comes back. Oh well. Will be nice to work in, and the boiler will eat less over those days. I wish I could eat as much as it does and not get any bigger.

That's it- I gotta get me one of them University jobs so I have more time for my wood habit!

Ha! Yep, just started a 5 week break and plan to get as much wood put up as possible until the snow piles up - can't believe the woods are still bare. Cheers!

Nice looking stacks of wood.
First I thought you posted BWSavage's pictures.
Are some stacks of different length splits or picture illusion?
Maybe 2015/16 wood if winter don't show up soon :)
Awesome!

Thanks Dave - some length variation in the stacks. I bucked a bunch too long about 2 years ago, and will likely cut down to better length when I get ready to burn them. I've certainly saved a lot of this year's wood so far - I'm sure I'll be less than last year, with some left over. I'll be getting on 15/16 wood this week while the weather holds! Cheers!

Nice job getting ahead. I won't be splitting my 2014 - 2015 wood until the weather breaks here. I need one or two more good scrounges to finish off. I sure wish I had as much room as you have there, then I might be able to get more then three years ahead.
