I think it would be really great if Englander made a baking oven. I love our Englander FP-12 and with their customer service, as evidenced by their responses on this site..I think a baking oven would be a huge seller. What do you think, Englander? Any chance of getting one added to your product line?

You could put a dutch oven on top of your wood stove

That was my first thought, too, or a bake oven designed to be used over a campfire.

I know that the baking ovens and wood cook stoves are governed by their own set of rules--I think not EPA-regulated. There are manufacturers who have made the commitment and investment to manufacture cook stoves. Have you looked at any of them? I am charmed by the Down Under oven/cookstove, and would probably look at that if I ever built a small cabin (or had a bigger kitchen). The Esse stoves are gorgeous, expensive. Some of the refurbished old cookstoves are surprisingly efficient.

I think that Englander would be flattered to hear how enthusiastic you are as an owner. Go for it. Sit down and write them a letter. Pragmatically, though, if you wanted a cook stove, you'll have a shorter wait if you look at whatever is already available.

Oh I would SOOOO love to have enough room for a wood cook stove in addition to my propane stove (so as not to heat up the house when it's warm out). I absolutely LOVE the old ones! But...since I don't...I just use a dutch oven on my Lopi. One day I might build a summer kitchen for canning, if/when that ever happens I'll probably dig up an old wood stove (someone was selling one on Craigslist last year that was fantastic, and still hooked up-his wife used to cook on it every day he ssaid, until she passed and now he didn't use it himself).

I can just hear it now. Tech support calls for recipes.

If they made one that was essentially a 30 w/ an oven, I'd be trying for the first one sold!

I used my 30 as an oven many times last year, from Pizza to Bread. Used the stove top to make chilly and soup many times. Some of them came out really good. At first it was a challenge but eventually I got the hang of it.

I already have an Englander induced oven... it's called my house! ;) Who says you can't open a couple of windows and fan the open door back and forth every hour in winter?? Wow! this new stove kicks off the heat, and it's only half stoked. Somebody turn me over, I'm all done on this side ;) (Sorry, couldn't resist)

We do a lot of baking inside the stove once the fire has gone out, it basically does the same job as a wood fired pizza oven, the temp gauge lets you know when it's roughly ok for bread or pastry, and once you have mastered it, you'll be wishing for the days when you are not burning 24/7........ ;-)

Below is syrup tart inside the stove:

And below is the tart, together with an apricot and ginger pie, which I also cooked in the stove as it was still warm enough for cooking in:

And yes, that slicer is home made by me, for getting stuff into and out of the stove :)

@ Woodchip. WOW! Those look awesome! I think I'd like to come live at your place, or at least be a favorite neighbor ;) Never thought of cooking inside the stove before. Thanks for sharing those pix.
