This is my first year with my Accentra insert and after a cold night last night and the hopper being run low (anf fire running all night I assume) I noticed the metal in the hopper was hot to the touch. Do you find the same when the hopper is low on pellets and is there any reason to be concerned? I do not thing there is but people out here have more experience then me so I thought I would check.

The hopper in my st croix gets warm when the pellets get low, nothing to worry about.

Given that on occassion the ignitor does not light the pellets, and it takes the gel a minute to get them going I thought it was ok but confirmation is nice to have.

jdege, are you using the starting gel? Typically with that stove you don't need it. My father has been running that stove for years
never used gel, always fires right up.

I have had to use the gel a couple times due to ignitor issues (tech scheduled). Had your dad ever noticed the metal in the hoppet getting hot when running 24/7? I would not think it is an issue but in my first season.

and before it is noted, no I can not spell :)

If i touch the fireside of my hopper it is pretty hot to the touch

The hoppers in my Quads are hot to the touch when I run them on High.

You'll hit the stoves high limit switch before any issue with hopper temp. Some stove do get pretty hot. Inserts seem to be the worst.

If you had a FS, I'd say place a box fan behing the stove. It would force some air between the void/gap thats between hopper and firebox. But really not necessary. Just piece of mind. I felt better with my bigE with the fan behind it. Its hopper was pretty hot when we had to crank it in the cold.

I figured there were saftey features to prevent any issues but again I appreciate confirm from those who have been doing this longer.

I wouldn't worry too much about misspellings here. That is unless you misspell a word that may have a double meaning,( esp. to body parts and functions) then oh boy, watch out!
