Regarding my Harman Accentra problems with defaults, I am now wondering if power surges are causing my stove to default and act up. I have had NO power surge protection on my Accentra but just picked up a very good one. I will plug it in tonight when I get home. I got it from the computer store here on UMaine campus. My stove defaults very inconsistently and we have a lot of power surges and one just the other day. Since then, my stove is out of commission. Harman Company told me to get one immediately and they said that power surges can affect any number of things on your stove, that is very computerized.

I will get some new gasket for the front door. You install it with stove cement. The gasket on the stove looks very flat and the door does not seem as tight fitting. I will also check the fuse box but Harmon said if it blue the one fuse it has a lot more lights would go off.

At least I will try everything I can with help from here and hopefully I won't need a tech to come out. Can't get one anytime soon anyway....

Looking forward to what Eric has to say here on this forum.

Can you post the make & model of the surge protector you bought? If it's one of those computer power bars that claim to be a surge protector too, they usually are not good.

It is called Tripp.Lite for home electronics and PCs. It has 720 joules (which means much more protection) and has a lifetime warranty up to $20,000 should this power surge not work and you lose your equipment. The university (where I work) has a computer store and that's where I got it. I told them I had a computerized pellet stove and they said this is a very good protector and should work well for my pellet stove. It 's what they use all over campus. Both my stoves are now on a surge protector.

TrippLites are solid products. It'll treat you well.

Thanks very much. If the University uses them I figured they must be good.

This is a great forum. I've really learned a lot.

I use a Costco Tripp Lite UPS. It is a superior surge suppressor and it also keeps the stove running during any transition to my automatic standby generator. It is a no-brainer. BTW, the batteries in these UPS systems do fail eventually (~3 years in my experience). Tripp Lite does not sell replacement batteries, but please don't discard that UPS! Open it up, remove the battery, and head to Batteries Plus or some equivalent place. They'll set you up for a very small incremental cost versus buying a new UPS.
