This is a wonderful unit. I wish there was one in every room. The Franklin helps keep most of the lower floor warm(2500 sq. ft.)The unit offers a consistant soft heat. The kids and pets love to lay by it. The grownups seem to gravitate to it when it's cocktail time. The company was outstanding to work with. They pay attention to detail and they are doing it right.
The installer followed the instructions on the pipe from "duraliner" and installed unit incorectly. Big mistake.
The unit started to smoke the glass. Woodstock figured out the problem and installer fixed it at no charge. I took stove apart (easy) and cleaned soot with shop vac and rag.
We live in a 100 year old, 2 story,5000 sq. ft. drafty, ranchhouse. Our furnance quit, our fireplace sucked the remander of the warm air out the chimmney. The highlight of my evening was when I turned the electrict blanket to 9. The furnance was a big deal due to other problems underneah the house. We installed a Country Fire place Insert in the living room, with blower and a Woodstock Soapstone Franklin Gas unit in the glassed in porch/office.I wanted to put a freestanding soapstone stove in front of fireplace but got overruled by wife due to cosmetic reasons. After all said and done, the household prefers the Franklin to the Country. I may forget the furnance and install another wood burning soapstone.
