This is a smaller fireplace from heat n glo, but it still makes big heat. I got it for under 1300 dollars with the venting and the fan kit. i do not use any of my furnace ducts in my basement, this little fireplace heats the whole thing buy itself, more often than not, i have to turn the heat down to the lower BTU so it doesnt get too hot. the logs and flame are also the best that i found in a gas unit this size. I have built houses for 30 years, and never seen a little fireplace like this one heat the way it does, not have i seen one look as good.
well, its a smaller unit, but i needed a smaller fireplace because i put it between two windows. also, it only has one front and you can add some brass strips to it, but i think there should be more fronts available.
I was aprehensive about buying a heat n glo. i went to many different dealers, and two of them were really bad mouthing heat n glo and saying that the units would rust. well, i bought this unit in 1997 or 98, and use it more than my furnace. it looks as good as it did the day i bought it, and it has never rusted. since purchasing my heat n glo, i have put only heat n glo's in the houses that i build, and have had nothing but positive comments from the home owners, i'll never use another firplace. the guy that helped me with the unit was really friendly too, mike at federated.
