Good stove, burns very well, get seasoned wood of course. Got exactly what I wanted at the time. In about 2 hours the room goes from about 35 to70 degrees. This stove is our Florida room where the stove is the only source of heat. The 35 degrees is the morning temp during the cold winter. 75% of our Florida room is low argon gas windows, so we needed a good stove to keep the heat in.
Very small firebox, too small for most wood that is cut by firewood sellers. You will not have an "overnight burn" that Avalon says. You might have a coal or two that is hot but that is pushing it, firebox is not big enough (1.3 cu feet, way too small. I paid a good buck for the installation and the stove, wish I bought the Rainer or even Olympic, I could alsways open a door and let some heat enter out Living room to keep the temp reasonable.
OK, here is the problem with Heritage Fireplace and Stove in Lockport NY. They are very nice when you are in the store and are going to buy a stove. But after you purchase something and had the stove for only 11 months, you are pretty much left frustrated and they really don't care about you. When it comes to calling you back or emailing you back, they are terrible. I have even been promised a callback several times, and still no reply. There is a leak coming from the chimney that they installed and they are telling me it's my roof (roof was fine before they cut into it!). I was also told they would sell me the display model Rainer and give me a price on my Pendleton, but when it came to calling me back, still waiting.......I consider myself a reasonable person and I really dont expect a call back immediately, but I know when somebody is just giving me lip service. I will never buy anything else from Heritage Fireplace because of this lack of customer care and I hope you will not support a store like this
I would recommend calling Countryside Stove in Holland NY. They will drive anywhere to help you out and the prices are even cheaper. Even offered to give me a trade in price to upgrade to the Rainer stove (still thinking about it). They understood that I still wanted to be Happy with Avalon, I just needed a bigger stove with a bigger firebox. Give them a try, you will not be waiting for a callback. Shame on you Heritage Fireplace and Stove you lost a good customer!
