This stove was purchased in April 2007 on a close-out sale. The model is discontinued and the price was excellent... about $1300 below original retail. Can be set close to a wall. One of the smallest hearth sizes required. Lights 100% first time so far. Nice radiating heat of different quantities coming from front, sides, top.
Does not hold heat after burn is done as well as past enameled Jotul 602 but I haven't tried it overnight, yet.
I am really enjoying this lovely woodstove from the styling to the beautiful fire it produces. The stove is like having a mini fireplace due to the large glass viewing area. Best of all, my frustration with lighting the fire and having it successfully burn has ended. This stove lights with two smaller pieces of newsprint, a handful of twigs, and one match! I can have a roaring fire in less than five minutes. I tried heating the house with it and did get the immediate area up to 81 degrees and one of the furthest points in the house up to about 69 degrees using the heat pump fan to distribute the heat. The weather outside was in the 50s so the heating capability is still up in the air.
